- The entire landscape of the Bylong Valley has state heritage significance, as identified by the expert heritage report by Hector Abrahams Architects.

- The mine will irreparably damage these values, and also have broader heritage impacts because it adjoins the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.

- This mine will directly open cut strategic agricultural land which cannot be replaced. All such land should be off-limits to coal mining.

- The mine will destroy areas that have been mapped as part of the Critical Industry Cluster for the equine industry.

- This mine will devastate the Bylong River and its alluvial aquifer. Government experts warned internally the river could “run dry” if the mine goes ahead.

- The IPCC has released new warnings that global warming needs to be limited to 1.5 degrees and fossil fuels should be phased out quickly to avoid catastrophic change.

I am concerned that the Australian Government is ignoring reports from its own scientists and international scientists to transition from a fossil fuel economy to renewable energy.

I have written to Scott Morrison to ask for this but received no reply.

I would ask that you contact the PM and suggest he adopts the recommendation's of these reports. Alternatively call for an early election so people can vote about this as it will be an election issue.

I have experience of the renewable energy industry and I know that it is now cost comparable to coal. And is not as destructive of good farming land as coal and gas.

The LNP is too close to the economic side of fossil fuel to make the necessary hard decisions. Its no longer a question of economics, its a question of survival of our grandchildren. Try counting your money when you can't breath.

The Australian government has committed to the Paris agreement. When the coal is sold and burnt co2 will be released into the air causing global warming. So appoving this mine is against government policy.

The co2 from the coal will have a significant effect on global warming, which makes the effects droguhts and therefore effects the rest of the state and the bylong valley, thus causing financial hardship for our farmers

The mine will suck up water from the river, interfere with the artesian water and despoil the area for tourism. My wife and I travel the Bylong Valley Way regularly to visit family in Bathurst. We are constantly in awe and amazed by the grandeur and tranquillity of this place. To commence a coal mine in the middle of this picturesque area would be an absolute travesty. I would like to register my strongest opposition to this coal mine being approved. I sincerely hope that the Independent Planning Commission is able to independently review this proposal and reject it in its entirety.

My overarching concerns are for the impact of the mine on the local environment and community, and for the very serious threat it poses to longterm health and wellbeing of us all.

The very idea of building a dirty polluting open cut coal mine in a state heritage listed area is appalling. Not only will the mine irreversably damage the environment in immediate area but it also threatens our iconic Blue Mountain national park, and will have a serious wider impact on the surrounding environment, rivers and acquifers. The development will also threaten farm lands in the vicinity and it will take precious water out of the environment at a time when water is becoming an increasingly valuable and scarce resource. It will also threaten public health, not just of local communities (and the science is very clear about the dangerous health impacts of open cut coal mining and coal dust) , but of all of us, as we are forced to live with the consequences of the immense amount of carbon pollution created by this project.

And that's not even considering the threat it poses to the flourishing tourist industry in the area.

At a time when we are facing seriously frightening warnings about the impact of continuing to dig up and use fossil fuels, and we are already facing longer and harsher droughts and heat waves, it is ridiculous to even be considering opening up beautiful forest and farm areas to coal mining - a dirty, dangerous 19th century industry.

I implore the committee to reject this project - for environmental, health based, economic reasons. Do not put the short term interests of a Korean mining magnate above the future safety and wellbeing of your children and grandchildren. You will be judged on your decisions by future generations.

There are other sustainable and non-life threatening industries which can provide employment in this area.

Yesterday, a report was released that stated all coal usage must cease by 2050, in order to halt increase in temperature at 1.5 degrees by 2050.

My overarching concern is the continuing production of coal at a time when the whole world needs to be doing all it can to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels in order for there to be world that is inhabitable for our children and grandchildren. A 2 degree rise in temperature is going to have such incredible and awful impacts on food production, water and the environment that it will be extremely unpleasant to live in. That is NOT what we need for subsequent generations. We have a responsibility to do all we can NOW to reduce this horrific impact.

If we continue to ignore the climate change problem it won't be long before we mad to pay penalties for not contributing to critical action and dealt out of international trade.

We continue to open coal; mines at our peril. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION.

The mine should not proceed for the following reasons.

1. The entire landscape of the Bylong Valley has state heritage significance, as identified by the expert heritage report by Hector Abrahams Architects.

2. The mine will irreparably damage these values, and also have broader heritage impacts because it adjoins the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.

3. This mine will directly open cut strategic agricultural land which cannot be replaced. All such land should be off-limits to coal mining.

4. The mine will destroy areas that have been mapped as part of the Critical Industry Cluster for the equine industry.

5. This mine will devastate the Bylong River and its alluvial aquifer. Government experts warned internally the river could “run dry” if the mine goes ahead.

6. It is, quite simply, a beautiful valley and it's scenic beauty should be preserved.

- This mine would destroy areas that have been mapped as part of

the Critical Industry Cluster for the established Equine industry

- This mine will devastate the Bylong River and its alluvial aquifer -

Government experts have warned internally the river could “run

dry” if the mine goes ahead
