    History of IPHA

IPHA brings together over forty years of experience in the design, development,

production, sales and marketing of Prestressed Hollowcore Flooring.

The Association was started as ISPA (International Spiroll Producers Association)

in 1969 by seven companies who were operating Spiroll machines in seven

different countries and saw the need to share experience and knowledge in

design, development and production of hollowcore floors.

In 1986 the name was changed to IECA (International Extruded Concrete

Association), allowing manufacturers using other types of extrusion processes to

    become members.

In 1993 the Association was extended to include manufacturers using slip form

processes. The scope was extended to fields of sales and marketing of hollowcore

floors. Specialist Suppliers to the Industry became eligible to be Associate

    Members.

IPHA thus came into being with an expanded remit to cover all aspects of the

hollowcore flooring industry and has grown in size and strength ever since.

    IPHA A Worldwide Association

IPHA is the International Prestressed Hollowcore Association. It is the foremost

organisation dedicated to all aspects of design, development, production, sales

and marketing of Prestressed Hollowcore Flooring.

Companies throughout the world who use extrusion or slip form processes for the

production of prestressed hollowcore products are eligible to join the Associa-

    tion as Full Members.

Associate Membership is open to specialist suppliers to the prestressed hollow-

core industry, such as equipment manufacturers and suppliers, strand and wire

    The Annual IPHA Conference

One of the most important events of the year is the Annual Conference; normally

held over three days, hosted by a Member or Associate Member company and

held in a different country each year.

A keynote speaker, such as a Government Minister, Economist, Architect or

Consulting Engineer addresses the Conference on a theme, relevant to the

economic, commercial, technical and commercial conditions of the time.

The keynote speech is usually followed by a lively interactive forum under the

guidance of a communications professional. The conclusions of such a debate

are subsequently summarised and reported to the Membership.

Presentations are made on important technical matters and latest developments

in production techniques, design, development, sales & marketing of Prestressed

Hollowcore Floors. Other important issues like health, safety and the environ-

ment are also included in a comprehensive and wide ranging programme.

The programme usually includes a visit to a hollowcore production facility, local

to the Conference venue, allowing new developments and variations in practice

to be seen and discussed between Members.

The event is designed to be instructive and informative, but also has an enjoyable

social programme for delegates and their partners in a generally relaxed atmos-

phere, which allows ample time for informal discussions outside the arranged

    programme events.

Associate Members are afforded the opportunity to have a small display stand,

where they can present their products and services to the delegates.

The Conference provides the ideal forum for anyone in the hollowcore industry to

discuss and share knowledge and experience on a wide variety of related subject

    matter.

In addition to the Annual Conference, technical seminars are held regularly.

Engineers and technicians from member companies are invited to take part in a

programme specifically tailored to topical technical matters and developments.
