Sampling of Strength-Based Training Programs

• AI Foundations: A customized 3-4 day experiential workshop that combines the theory and practice of AI. Targets persons who will lead organizational change initiatives.

• Introduction to AI: A 1-day experiential overview of the principles and practice of AI. This program can be delivered to large groups of 100 or more.

• AI Every Day: A practical 1-2 day workshop designed to build AI competencies such as reframing problems to opportunities and asking positive questions. For managers and supervisors who want to integrate an appreciative perspective into their everyday work.

• Rapid Strategy Development: A ½ to 1-day public and in-house program for strategic planning using rapid, high-engagement approaches to environmental scanning, mission/vision clarification, goal and objective identification, and action planning; incorporates “SOAR” vs. “SWOT” analyses and case studies.

• Appreciative Teams in Action: a customized in-house program that combines classroom instruction with team-based project applications in the workplace.

Joanne DaykinIPI Consultant

She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Ottawa, and her advanced honors degree in Education at York University. She is an accredited Master Trainer/Facilitator in “Total Quality Management and Excellence” with the American Society for Quality and has consulted within the Public, Healthcare, Education and profit Sectors using this methodology in Canada, the US, Asia and India. She is also a graduate of the 160 Hour Program in “Third Party Neutral and Conflict Resolution” with the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution. She is an approved provider of the DiSC Behaviour Profile System and also certified as a Level-2 Facilitator in Experiential Team Building. She is Qualified to administer the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, has completed her “Certificate in Organization Development” through NTL Institute and certified in the Culture Transformation Tools (CTT) by Richard Barrette and Associates. She has completed the Apprentice Coaching Program with Integral Coach Canada and is working on certification.

Ms Daykin has worked with numerous clients in North America and Asia. Some of her clients include: Bruce Power, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Defence Research and Development Canada, Department of Justice, Department of National Defence, Environment Canada, Human Resources and Social Development Canada, Natural Resources Canada, Public Safety Canada, and the Treasury Board.

Jen Hetzel SilbertIPI ConsultantJen Hetzel Silbert, MSOD, is a co-founder of Innovation Partners International and has over 15 years experience supporting private and public sector organizations in the U.S. and around the world. Jen brings extensive experience in teaching and applying Appreciative Inquiry (AI) to strategy development, leadership development, process innovation, and stakeholder/workforce engagement. Jen’s professional career includes her consultancy work for Bearing Point (formerly KPMG Consulting), Electronic Data Systems (EDS), PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and International Business Machines (IBM).

Jen is a leader in the design and implementation of strength-based approaches to strategy development, stakeholder engagement, workforce development, and family/youth development. Some of her clients include the American Red Cross, Sprint-Nextel, United Nations Development Programme, U.S. Navy, U.S. National Intelligence Community, YMCA, and Rhode Island Department of Education. Jen was honored by Providence Business News as a 2007 “Forty Under 40” award recipient, which recognizes RI-based professionals for demonstrating outstanding leadership in their field and in service to their community. Jen holds dual BS degrees in economics and international studies from American University and a MS in organization development from Johns Hopkins University. She recently co-authored a book, Positive Family Dynamics (©2008, Taos Institute), which underlines her principles of applying AI to both work and life. Jen is based in Rhode Island where she lives with her husband, Tony, and two daughters.

Tony SilbertIPI Consultant

Tony Silbert, MSOD, is a co-founder of Innovation Partners InternationalI and has 20 years experience in organizational development, change leadership consulting, training design and delivery. Tony’s areas of expertise include strengths-based and participatory approaches to large-scale change, strategic planning, organization design, innovation, and collaboration. He works with private and public sector organizations in a variety of industries, both domestically and abroad, including healthcare, finance, govt., international development, IT, non-profit, and telecommunications.

He earned his Master of Science degree in organization development from American University/NTL Institute. He is a co-owner of Appreciative Inquiry Consulting, Dean of National Training Laboratories’ (www.NTL.org) AI & Strategy program, partner and board member of Social Venture Partners of RI (www.svpri.org), and on the board of A Place to Grow. Tony was the keynote speaker at the Treasury Board of Canada’s Classification symposium (2003), the co-project director for the 2nd International Conference on AI (2004), and selected as a “40 under 40” business leader in Rhode Island (2006). He has been a guest lecturer at George Washington University and has led numerous training sessions on positive approaches to planning and change.

Bernard MohrIPI ConsultantBernard J. Mohr, Ed.M, BA, is Co-Founder, Innovation Partners International, adjunct faculty at Concordia University, Advisory Board member of the Taos Institute and senior faculty of NTL Institute for Applied Behavioral Science. For almost 40 years, in the US, Central America, the Caribbean, Western Europe, Canada and the Middle East he has focused on accelerated cultural change, organizational performance, quality, customer service and whole system transformation -- using large group collaborative innovation processes, dynamic evaluation, and positive organization design. Catherine McKennaIPI Consultant

Catherine McKenna, MIR, is a founding partner of Innovation Partners International . She has spent her career working with leaders and teams to bring about organizational innovation, culture change and collaboration. In the public, private and healthcare sectors she facilitates leadership development and organizational change initiatives. She also delivers training in Appreciative Inquiry.

Catherine holds an Organization Development certificate from the National Training Laboratories (NTL), a Masters of Industrial Relations from Queen's University (Kingston, Canada) a Bachelor's in Psychology, also from Queen's. She is a certified provider of MBTI, DiSC and CTT (values mapping) and is an apprentice Integral Coach. Prior to the establishment of her consulting practice, Catherine worked for 11 years at Nortel Networks in various roles including management development, Line Human Resources management and recruiting. Her clients include Human Resource and Social Development Canada, Canadian Institute for Health Research, Bruyère Continuing Care, Nunavut Arctic College, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Somerset West Community Health Centre, Ottawa University Health Services and Friends of Hospice. Catherine lives in Richmond, Ontario Canada with her husband and four children.

Ada Jo MannIPI Consultant

Ada Jo Mann, is managing partner in Innovation Partners International. She has 35 years of experience collaborating with clients on strength based approaches to strategic planning; organization design; whole system change; program development and evaluation; inter-organizational partnerships; team building, and training. She has directed or participated in assignments in over 50 African, Asian, Caribbean, Central and South American and European countries. Using practical, strength based and participatory management approaches she has advised and trained over 1000 leaders. Through her work both in the US and abroad Ada Jo has increased the leadership capacities of diverse institutions including government agencies, international development organizations, non-profits and community groups.

She is a pioneer in the field of Appreciative Inquiry in the international development and social change arena and Founder and former Managing Co-Owner of Appreciative Inquiry Consulting, LLC. For seven years she was Director of The GEM Initiative, a multi-million dollar grant from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to improve the organizational capacity of non-governmental organizations in all regions of the world.

Ada Jo is co-author of the book Positive Family Dynamics: Appreciative Inquiry Questions to Bring out the Best in Families (co-authored with Jen Hetzel Silbert, Dawn Cooperrider Dole, and Diana Whitney, ©2008 Taos Institute). Bob LaliberteIPI Consultant

Bob Laliberte, PMP, Partner, Innovation Partners International, has either managed or consulted to organizations for more than 30 years in the fields of innovative high-performance work system design and implementation, and project management. With American Optical in the mid-1970's, he was instrumental in both the technical and organization design and start-up of a new team based manufacturing site, later managing this successful facility. At Polaroid for ten years, he was involved in both project management and internal consulting roles in the redesign and organization development of several manufacturing and research facilities on their path to high performance. At Domtar Gypsum, Bob led the process and organization design and implementation of another new manufacturing site, today recognized as one of the most innovative and productive facilities in the world. Since that time he has consulted to the business process and organization design and implementation of four additional manufacturing site start-ups.

Roselyn KayIPI Consultant

Roz Kay, MSOD, GCC is a co-founder of Innovation Partners International. Roz provides executive coaching, consulting and facilitation to nonprofit, corporate, and government organizations seeking to identify effective strategies, build dynamic leadership, maximize teamwork, and expand their capacity for optimal performance. She also coaches leaders and teams to enhance collaboration, deepen self-awareness, and build capacity for positive change.

Roz holds an MS in organization development from American University/NTL and earned her BS in business management from Franklin Pierce College. She is a Georgetown Certified Coach and currently a learning circle advisor for coaching students in the program. Roz is also a Certified Somatic Coach with the Strozzi Institute. In her free time she enjoys the beach, biking, traveling and reading. She lives with her husband in Washington, DC.

Michael J. FeinsonIPI Consultant

Michael J. Feinson, MBA, is principal and cofounder of Innovation Partners International.  He has helped organizations from hospitals to technology companies, hire exceptional performers, maximize the talent of their workforce, and implement new ways to boost performance.

Mike specializes in using Appreciative Inquiry, an approach to change that generates solutions to challenges by identifying and amplifying successes and best practices.  He works primarily with business, government, and not-for-profit groups in areas such as leadership development, performance management, business process redesign, and the design and implementation of change initiatives.  

Prior to joining IPI Mike founded a consulting business, worked as a performance consultant for Nextel Communications, and for Starbucks Coffee he helped launch the company’s East Coast operations.  His clients have included and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Nextel Communications, The US Navy, the US Ballistic Missile Defense Organization, and the Department of Homeland Security.  He is a frequent speaker and a faculty member of the American Management Association.  Mike earned a bachelor’s degree from American University and a master’s degree in organization development from Boston University. In his free time he enjoys running in Rock Creek Park, traveling and cooking.  He lives with his wife and son in Washington, DC.
