2.1 Logging In to the EPG Again

Description

You are required to log in to the EPG again when:

l The STB restarts.

l The STB is switched to the normal state from the standby state.

Procedure

Step 1 Select a user from the user list and enter the password, as shown in Figure 2-1.

You can enter the password by:

l Pressing the number keys on the remote control.

l Select numbers on the login page.

l If you select Automatic Login, the home page is displayed upon your next login.

Step 2 Click OK. The EPG home page is displayed, as shown in Figure 2-2.

3.1 Using the Live TV Guide

Description

On the live TV guide page, you can view detailed schedules of live TV channels and perform

the following operations:

l Add live TV channels to favorites or locking live TV channels.

l Set recording or serial recording tasks for live TV channels based on the schedules, set

reminders for programs, or subscribe to PPV programs.

Procedure

Step 1 Press EPG. The home page is displayed.

Step 2 Choose Live TV> Program Guide. The Program Guide page is displayed, as shown in Figure3-1.

Step 3 You can press the designated keys on the remote control to perform the following operations:

l Press to add or delete live TV channels in the favorites. The icon is displayed below

the channel name if the channel is added in the favorites.

l Press to lock or unlock live TV channels. You can enter PIN to lock a channel. The

icon is displayed for locked channels.

l Press to view more functions. Figure 3-2shows the page displayed after you press

.

You can press designated keys on the remote control to perform operations, such as recording

programs, setting serial recording tasks and reminders, or subscribing to PPV programs.

3.2 Playing a Live TV Program

Description

Live TV is a service that broadcasts real-time TV programs based on the broadband network. It

allows you to watch high-definition and high-quality live TV programs and perform operations

such as pause, fast-forward, rewind, and seek if a live TV channel supports the Time Shift TV(TSTV) service.

Procedure


Step 2 Choose Live TV. The focus is on Program Guide. Press OKto go to the Program Guidepage.

Step 3 Select a live TV program and press OK. The live TV program is played, as shown in Figure3-3.

l Press Switchand left or right arrow keys to set the soundtrack and subtitle languages, as

shown in Figure 3-4.

l If a schedule is set for a live TV channel and the channel supports the nPVR service, the

recording button is displayed in the lower part of the page. You can press designated keys

on the remote control to start or stop recording.

Step 4 When you press , the time shift progress bar is displayed, which indicates that the timeshift function is enabled for the live TV channel, as show in Figure 3-5.

NOTE

You can pause or resume the live TV channel that supports the TSTV service. When a live TV channel

that supports the TSTV service is playing, you can:

l Press to pause or to resume the program.

l Press to rewind (4x, 8x, 16x, or 32x).

l Press to fast-forward (4x, 8x, 16x, or 32x) after the program pauses or after you rewind it.

When the program is fast-forwarded to the current time, the program enters the live state.

l Press to enter the live state.

l Press to play the channel from the program played a fixed interval before the current

time. The interval is set by the carrier.

3.3 Watching TVOD Programs

Description

The TV on Demand (TVOD) service enables carriers to record live TV programs on servers or

offer subscribers the recorded live TV programs provided by content providers.

If a live TV channel supports the TVOD function, programs that have been played on the channel

are displayed on the live TV guide page. Subscribers then can watch a TV program at any time

by selecting them on the EPG The system allows you to perform operations such as pause, fast-

forward, and rewind when you watch a TVOD program.

3.4 Subscribing to PPV Programs

Description

Pay Per View (PPV) refers to a subscription-based live TV service. The PPV service enables

carriers to charge subscribers for purchasing specific programs they want to watch. Subscribers

can watch PPV programs when the programs are played on live TV channels.

Step 2 Choose Live TV> Program Guide, The Program guide page is displayed.

Step 3 Select a program that does not start and press to display the function menu, as shownin Figure 3-8.

Step 4 Select PPVand press OKto display the page for subscribing to the program, as shown in Figure

3-9.

l If the subscriber has purchased the PPV feature, the subscription page is displayed when the subscriber

selects PPV.

l If the subscriber does not purchase the PPV feature, no page is displayed when the subscriber selects

PPV.

Step 5 Press OK, enter the subscription password, and press OKagain.

3.5 nPVR

Description

The Network Personal Video Recording (nPVR) function allows subscribers to record live TV

and radio programs on a content server located in the carrier's network and to watch the programs

at any time. To watch nPVR programs, subscribers must purchase network storage space and

the nPVR programs.

3.6 Adding Reminders

Description

The reminder service enables subscribers to set reminders for future programs. The system

automatically reminds a subscriber of a scheduled program before the program is about to start.

Step 4 The reminder is displayed on the EPG before the program starts, as shown in Figure 3-11.

You can press the left or right arrow key to:

l Select Watch Nowand press OK. The live TV program for which you set the reminder is

played.

l Select Remind Laterand press OK. The reminder is displayed on the EPG again after an

interval for repeated reminders.l Select Canceland press OK. The reminder is ignored.

For details on how to set the interval to receive the first reminder before the program start time

and the interval for repeated reminders, see Step 3.

Description

Channels added to My Favoritesare listed on the My Favoritespage.

Description

VOD categories enable subscribers to find movies and their introduction conveniently.

Procedure


Step 2 Choose On Demand> Category. The VOD Category page is displayed, as shown in Figure4-1.

Step 3 Press the left or right arrow key to switch VOD categories. Lists of movies in the categories aredisplayed. Press OKto select a category, as shown in Figure 4-2.

4.2 Watching a VOD

Description

After subscribing to VODs, subscribers can perform operations such as watching, seek, and

rating.

Procedure


Step 2 Choose On Demand> Category. The On Demandpage is displayed.

Step 3 Press the left or right arrow key to switch VOD categories. Lists of movies in the categories aredisplayed. Press OKto select a category.

Step 4 Select Subscribe. The VOD subscription page is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-3.

l Movies similar to the current VOD are displayed at the lower-right corner of the page.

l If the subscriber does not subscribe to a VOD, Subscribeis displayed on the left function menu.

Subscribers can watch the VOD after subscription.

l If the subscriber has subscribed to a VOD, Playis displayed on the left function menu. The subscriber

can select Playto play the VOD, as shown in Figure 4-4.

NOTE

l If a VOD contains multiple chapters, you can select Chapterson the left function menu to go to the

page for displaying VOD chapters and choose a chapter to play.

l You can press the left or right arrow key to fast-forward or rewind VODs.

l You can press the pause key on the remote control to play or pause a VOD. When a VOD is paused,

you can press the left or right arrow key to seek for a position on the progress bar.

Step 5 Press to exit the VOD playback page. The message "Are you sure to exit?" is displayed,as shown in Figure 4-5.

NOTE

l Press OKto exit. Subscribers can press Bookmarkon the left menu to resume the VOD play from the

bookmark position that is recorded automatically.

l Movies similar to the current VOD are displayed at the lower-right corner of the page. Subscribers can

select and play the movies.

Step 6 Rate the VOD on the VOD details page.

1. Select Rateand press OKto rate the VOD, as show in Figure 4-6.

2. Press left and right to set the rate. The rating ranges from 1 to 5. Press OKto finish rating.

4.3 Logging In to the EPG for the First Time

Description

The following describes how to use an IPTV account to log in to the EPG for the first time.

Procedure

Step 1 Power on the STB.

Step 2 Enter the subscriber's account and password on the user login page, as shown in Figure 4-7.

Step 3 Press OKto go to the profile login page, select a profile, and press OK. The focus is in the textbox, as shown in Figure 4-8.

4.4 Watching Recommended VODs

Description

Subscribers can view recommended VODs on the Recommendationpage, choose a VOD to

view its detailed introduction, and watch the VOD after subscription.

Recommended VODs on this page are configured by the carrier manually. The carrier determines the

4.5 Viewing VODs in the Favorites

Description

On the My Favoritespage, subscribers can view the VODs added in the favorites and choose

a VOD to play.

Procedure


Step 2 Choose VOD> My Favorites. The My Favoritespage is displayed, as shown in Figure

4-10.

Select a VOD and press OK. The VOD details page is displayed. Subscribers can subscribe to,

watch, and lock a VOD on the details page. For details, see 4.2 Watching a VOD.

5SearchDescription

The search function enables subscribers to easily locate specific content, such as live TV

programs, VODs, or TVOD programs.

Procedure


Step 2 Select the icon for Live TV, VOD, or TVOD.

Step 3 Select Search. The search page is displayed, as shown in Figure 5-1.

NOTE

Subscribers can search for live TV programs or TVOD programs by entering the title of the program, and

search for VODs by entering the name of the VOD, the actor, or the director. The subscriber can press

designated keys on the remote control to sort the search results by name or time.

1. Press the left or right arrow key to select content types. Options are as follows:

l Program: live TV programs

l VOD: VOD programs

l TVOD: TVOD programs

2. Enter the name of the content that you want to search for. The search begins automatically

in 2 seconds after the subscriber enters the keyword.TIP

The subscriber can delete content entered in the text box only by selecting Deleteon the on-screen

keyboard.

3. Select the search result. The name of the content and play time are displayed on the right

of the page.

Description

l Series: All ongoing and scheduled recording tasks are displayed.

Description

A bookmark stores the location in a subscriber's program where the subscriber exits the program

playback. Later, the subscriber can resume watching the program from the bookmarked position.

Description

Subscribers can:

l View profile names, consumption limit, and the default login profile.

l Set the interval to receive the first reminder before the program start time and the interval

for repeated reminders.

Procedure


Step 2 Choose Settings> Personal Settings. The Personal Settingspage is displayed, as shown inFigure 7-1.

7.2 Switching Profiles

Description

The following describes how to switch profiles without restarting the STB.

For one STB, you can set only one default login profile.

Procedure


Step 2 Choose Settings> Change Profile. The Change Profilepage is displayed, as shown in Figure7-3.

Step 3 Select a profile and press OK. Enter the PIN and select OK, The system changes to the profile.

l If you switch from the Adminprofile to a common profile, you are required to enter the PIN

of the common profile.

l If you switch from a common profile to the Adminprofile, you are required to enter the PIN

of the Adminprofile.

l If you switch from a common profile to another common profile, you are required to enter

the PIN of the profile that you want to switch to.

7.3 Changing the Password

Description

Admin User and Common Users can change their passwords on the epg.

Procedure


Step 2 Choose Settings> Change Profile PIN. The Change Profile PINpage is displayed, as shownin Figure 7-4.

Step 3 Enter the Old PIN and the New PIN, select Submit.

7.4 Managing Profiles

Description

Subscribers can add, edit, reset, or delete profiles on the EPG.

Step 2 Choose Settings>Manage Profile. The Manage Profilepage is displayed, as shown in Figure7-5.

7.4.1 Adding Profiles

Description

Profiles can be added online. Only Adminprofile has the rights to add profiles. The number of

profiles that can be added is determined by carriers.

Procedure


Step 2 Choose Settings> Manage Profile. The Manage Profilepage is displayed.

Step 3 Select a profile and select Add Profile.

l If you have logged in to the EPG using the Adminprofile, the page for adding a profile is

displayed.

l If you have logged in to the EPG using a common profile, you are prompted to enter the

Adminprofile's PIN.

Step 4 Set parameters for the new profile according to Table 7-1.

7.4.2 Modifying Profile Information

Description

Profile information can be modified online. The Adminprofile can modify the information about

all profiles. Common profiles cannot modify the Adminprofile information.

Step 3 Select a profile and select Modify Profile.

l If you have logged in to the EPG using the Adminprofile to modify a profile's information

or using a common profile to modify information about the logged-in profile, the page for

modifying profile information is displayed.

l If you have logged in to the EPG using a common profile to modify another profile's

information, you are prompted to enter the Adminprofile's PIN.

Step 4 Modify parameters according to Table 7-2.

7.4.3 Deleting a User

Description

Users can be deleted online. Only the Admin user has the rights to delete users.The Admin user

and the current login user cannot be deleted.

Procedure



Step 3 Select a user and select Delete.

l If you have logged in to the EPG as the Adminuser, you are prompted to confirm the deletion.

l If you have logged in to the EPG as a common user, you are prompted to confirm the deletion

after you enter the Adminuser password.

Step 4 In the confirmation dialog box, select OK.

7.4.4 Resetting the PIN

Description

Subscribers can reset the PIN of a profile to ensure the account security.

Procedure



Step 3 Select a profile and select Reset PIN.
