Hard GND Filters are characterized by a clear boundary

between transparent and dark areas. The transition is abrupt.

They are therefore used when the separation between the

bright and dark areas of your scene is very defined, such as the

horizon at sea.

Hard GND

Reverse GND Filters are similar to hard GND filters except that

the dark area fades toward the top of the filter (away from the

transition point). They were invented to better manage sunrises

and sunsets where the light is most intense on the horizon line

where the transition point of the filter should be placed.

Soft GND Filters are characterized by a soft transition (they

change from light to dark more gradually) and are therefore

used when the transition between light and dark areas is not

so clear. A classic example is a shot in a mountainous area.

Medium GND Filters are rectangular filters that help with darken

specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for

a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. It

is particularly useful for images that feature buildings, mountains

and other small elements that protrude into the skyline.

undesirable wavelengths commonly pollute the night sky. The

glow from these sources can prevent your camera sensor from

capturing a pure night sky and can ruin your night images.

Natural Night

The NiSi HD Polarizer reduces reflections from non metallic

surfaces. This reveals the subject’s true colour and texture.

They are made of high definition optical glass and coated with

NITTO polarizing film.
