In 2015, Saurer Group, leading in automatic winders, and Premier Evolvics, experts in yarn clearing and testing, joined forces to form a Joint Venture with the primary purpose to develop and manufacture a new yarn clearer generation with state of the art technology.

The first innovation out of this Joint Venture:IRisFX – A new clearer generation with integrated superior foreign fiber and white PP detection. With its patented measuring principle: a com-bination of visible light and InfraRed light, IRisFX detects PP parts and foreign fibers like no other.

IRisFX – Reveal the invisible

The human eye can only detect a small part of the electromagnetic wave spectrum. Outside the light spectrum visible to humans, InfraRed (IR) or other technologies can be used to “reveal the invisible”. InfraRed methods are based on the different reflectivity properties of different materials. They have been used successfully in many industrial applications for decades.

One example is the detection and highlighting of areas of vegetation using InfraRed aerial photography.

Unique clearer with foreign fiber and white PP detection

The IRisFX is the first clearer to use a patented combination of visible light and InfraRed technology. While the visible light is used to detect contamination that is of a different colour compared to the par-ent yarn, InfraRed is used to detect contaminations that are of the same colour as the parent yarn, but of a different material, e.g. white or transparent PP.

IRisFX – highest yarn quality for everyone

For increased process stability and high-quality fabrics Yarn package winding is the completion of the yarn forming process and the starting point for various subsequent processes, from weaving, knitting or dyeing to textile finishing. In winding, the course is set for high cost-effectiveness in the following steps of the textile production chain. At the same time, care is taken that the quality of the wound yarn will meet the quality demands by the finished articles. Here the strength of the Joint venture takes effect: Saurer has the process know-how for ring spinning, winding and the requirements of the textile processes, Premier has the expertise in yarn clearing. Thanks toIRisFX with its unique, patented measuring principle, the combination of visible light and InfraRed tech-nology, supplemented by the capacitive measuring field, yarn and packages will be delivered that provide both high safety and efficiency in the textile process flow, as well as quality, which is visible for the endusers in perfect fabrics quality. IRisFX eliminates yarn faults which are not visible with standard clearers.
