We met on Friday the 13th in the car park of the

apartment block where we both lived. Our first

date was very romantic with a leisurely tour of

Powerscourt Gardens followed by dinner in Johnny

Foxes Pub, the highest pub in Ireland.

Some years later, and unknown to me, Shane

wanted to go to India to propose at the Taj Mahal

on the 13th March 2008. We have travelled to

many interesting places including Malta. We fell in

love with Malta immediately, and we knew that it

would make a great location for a very romantic

and intimate wedding.

We always wanted a small wedding with just our

close family and friends. However, our main

concern with a wedding in Malta was how to co-

ordinate everything. We did some research and

we came across Sarah Young. We knew

from our first contact that she was the

best person to organise exactly the

wedding we wanted. She sent us a

range of proposals, with advice and

ideas which made our decisions so

much easier. She inspired confidence

and trust right from the start. Nothing

was too much trouble for Sarah, who

managed all the important legal

paperwork for us with efficiency and

experience.

We wanted to avoid the black-tie

theme and have a less formal

wedding. I bought my dress in

Ireland before travelling to Malta -

a Charleston-style sequin-covered

dress, Shane wore a navy suit and

we decided to have a purple accent theme.

My bridesmaid was my sister, Sandra, who helped

in so many little ways and Shane’s best man was

his friend, Farrell, who had been married some

years before and had asked Shane to be his best

man on that occasion.

While

Sarah devoted all her energy

to organising the important details of our

wedding, we concentrated on secretly arranging

for my brother, Richard, and his girlfriend Niamh,

to fly home from Australia as a surprise for the

family, which made the lead up to the big day very

exciting. In the days before the wedding, Sarah

organised my hair-trial with Angel and make-up

with Romina, who were both wonderful. As our

guests arrived in Malta, the excitement grew with

each passing day.

On the day itself, Sarah

organised a blue Rolls Royce

for my father and I. Shane

and I chose a civil ceremony

at a nearby venue with a

kind Registrar called Sonia.

The day could not have

been more perfect,

thanks to wonderful Sarah, the

lovely weather and the hotel staff.

All our guests had a truly

wonderful day and many

remarked on Sarah’s amazing co-

ordination skills and what a wonderful place Malta

is for such an occasion. The day was just perfect

in every way.

We will always remember with special affection

our wedding day in beautiful Malta when we

decided to be together forever and we will never

forget the special care and attention that Sarah

took in organising the most important day of our

lives: Friday 13th August. Lucky for some! Little

did we know just what a great choice Malta would

be, when we first visited back in 2007.
