IRYNA HAUSKA Born in 1971. I live and work in Stockholm since 2009. 2017 Master in Visual Culture and education at Konstfack, Stockholm. 1993 I finished my education at the faculty of graphic art at a University in Vitebsk (Belarus), the town where Mark Chagall was born. I am member of The Swedish Artists´ National Organization (KRO) since 2010 and the Belarusian Artist union since 2007. I work in various techniques and do sculptures in concrete, bronze and acrystal with textile touch at the same time I create installation from tights. Over the past 15 years I have participated in more than 30 exhibitions, including solo exhibitions in Japan, Belarus, Lithuania, Germany, Holland, Russia and Sweden. Inspired by nature, ancient wisdom, Art Nouveau, music, and life itself, I work with a colorful expres-sions often with an intrinsic message I want to convey. PUBLIC DESIGN? I'm interested to know how artistic competence can be incorporated in the public space as temporary, permanent, or an approach that permeates the project, how the artist in practice, both can say and influence, change and contribute to how the city is planned, how it may look. ONGOING / UPCOMING WORK TRAINING 2018 Artist in Residence in Kolomna (Russia), 2018-2019 Project manager for International Art- Educational Project ”Gender issues in Visual Culture and education”, 2017-2018 Project manager for Project-Exhibition ”Womens voice in Art”, Minsk (Belarus), 2015-2017 Master in Visual Culture and education 120 hp and course Going Public 60 hp at Konstfack, augusti – september 2013 Artist in Residence med tapestry project in Istanbul (Turkey). MATERIALS/ METHOD I use mainly textiles. I weave sculptures in the old way (by hand). I apply methods such as to do sculptures in different textile techniques. I have worked with hand weaving technique for 20 years, have taught the subject and have had several exhibitions. In today's digital society, we forget often away our valuable knowledge and old traditions that we inherited from previous generations. This is exactly what happens in the world today. People see very seldom a hand woven tapestry or sculptures, which is made by hand without looms and machines. It is a shame that an old technology is being forgotten. In my work, I have established a language for presenting old textile technique by narrative compositions. My interests focus on the relationship between ancient and modern and reflect on man's underestimation of the time-consuming. In a time of abundance, agglomeration and noise my philosophical sculptures remind us about historical ancient soul. Art creates a contrast to the "life" where all the speed, noise, anxiety and gives the illusion of harmony no longer exists. EDUCATOR Today I work as Project manager for own International Art-Educational Project between Sweden and Belarus. During four years I taught art at a University in Belarus. In 2011-2012, I worked as a teacher of Art and Form at Kulturama School in Sweden, Stockholm.
