It-tieni term riesaq lejn it-tmiem. Il-vaganzi tal-Għid qegħdin fuq

l-għatba. Kull ġurnata tibgħatilna esperjenzi u sfidi ġodda li permezz

tagħhom aħna nikbru u nissaħħu. Jiena ċerta li kulħadd għandu

esperjenzi x’jgħożż. F’dan it-term kellna ħafna attivitajiet fosthom

il-festin tal-Karnival, l-eżerċizzji tar-Randan, esperjenzi tax-xogħol tax-

Xjenza, il-festival taż-żfin, fatra bnina għas-saħħa u attivitajiet oħra

ta’ ġbir ta’ fondi għall-iskola. F’ismi u f’isem l-amministrazzjoni

nirringrazzja lil dawk kollha li għenu sabiex dawn l-attivitajiet kienu

success. Huwa pjaċir li nara l-istudenti kollha flimkien maqgħuda mal-għalliema u

l-ġenituri jieħdu pjaċir.

L-Għid huwa ftit jiem ‘l bogħod. Nawgura lil kulħadd ħafna ferħ u paċi. Għeżież student

użaw dawn il-vaganzi bil-għaqal. Gawduhom imma żommu f’moħħkom li wara dawn

Il-librerija kompliet iżżid it-titli ġodda fuq l-ixkafef tagħha. Minkejja li l-istudenti qed

jagħmlu użu tajjeb minn dan is-servizz, aħna qatt ma nkunu kuntenti, u għalhekk dejjem

nappellaw lill-istudenti biex jipparteċipaw u jattendu aktar. Nittamaw li nibdew ninvestu

wkoll f’kotba fil-lingwi l-oħra minbarra dawk tal-Malti u tal-Ingliż.

Nixtiequ wkoll aktar parteċipazzjoni fil -fuljett tal-librerija ‘Iċ-Ċagħkija’.

Ir-rebbieħa tal-kompetizzjoni tal-ħarġa tal-Milied kienu Martina Gatt ta’ Paris u Haley

Dowling ta’ Berlin. Haley u Martina ngħataw kotba bħala rigali.

Il-librerija bdiet il-ħidma tagħha għal Jum iċ-Ċelebrazzjoni. Diġa xtrajna l-kotba sabiex

jingħataw lill-istudenti. Nirringrazzjaw lill-amministrazzjoni għas-somma sostanzjali li investiet

għal din iċ-ċelebrazzjoni. Irċevejna wkoll rigali mill-Kunsill Lokali u mill-SLS għal Best Library

User. Tgħid min ser jirċievi dan il-premju?

Nirringrazzjaw ukoll lil-Library supervisors u helpers tal-

għajnuna siewja li dejjem jagħtu waqt il-ħin tal-mistrieħ

tagħhom. Infakkru lill-istudenti li għandhom dejjem jieħdu

ħsieb il-kotba li jissellfu u jirritornawhom dejjem fid-data

mogħtija lilhom u ttimbrata fuq l-ewwel faċċata tal-ktieb.

Wara hawn nibdew naħsbu kif ser niċċelebraw Jum

il-Ktieb nhar it-23 ta’ April. Ġimgħa t’attivitajiet sabiex

ikomplu jagħtu spinta ‘l quddiem fit-tkabbir tal-imħabba

għall-ktieb! Qed nagħmlu kuntatti sabiex inġibu awtur

magħruf mal-qarrejja ż-żgħar sabiex jiġi u jkellem

lill-istudenti tagħna. Ser nagħmlu xi kompetizzjoni wkoll

għal din l-okkażżjoni.

L-iskola ser tingħata wkoll ammont sostanzjali ta’ flus mill-

aġenzija tal-promozzjoni għall-qari sabiex jiġu investiti

f’kotba ġodda għal-librerija. Peress li fil-librerija għandna

nuqqas ta’ kotba fil-lingwi tal-Ġermaniż, Taljan, Spanjol,

Franċiż u Għarbi, ġie deċiż li dawn għandhom imorru biex

jinxtraw kotba f’dawn il-lingwi wara li jsir eżerċizzju

mal-għalliema ta’ dawn is-suġġetti.

Carmel G Cutajar. Huwa jittratta fuq tfulitu ta’ dari u l-ħajja tal

Jibda jirrakkonta bid-dar tiegħu li wara nsiru nafu li għadha

ħutu u l-kuġini tiegħu. Il-ktieb jittratta ukoll dwar il-bejjiegħa,

logħob u trasport fost il-ħajjiet ta’ nies ukoll. Il-bejjiegħa kienu

Dear friends,

As you all know, adults always encourage us to read more and more,

but they are not always successful. Well, in my case, I tell any adult who

orders me to read, “How can I read when you don’t have any

interesting books?”My parents were fed up of hearing me saying this so

last week they took me to a bookstore just outside our house. I was

annoyed at first because, let’s just say that books are not first in my

favourites list. My eyes drifted from shelf to shelf with no interest. But as I

was wondering around the shop I came across a particular book which

caught my eyes. The book was called The Forgotten Filly and it was

written by Karle Dickerson. It was first published in January 1993 by the company Harper

Paperbacks. I had buried my nose in it and had read it in two weeks’ time. Here is how

the story goes:

Joelle Latham was a tall and thin twelve-year-old. She was also horse-crazy like the rest of

her family; her father, her mother and her six-year-old brother, Jeffrey (also known as Jeff).

She has a special relationship with her mare Dance Away and when Dancer dies, giving

birth to her first foal, Joelle swears that no horse, not even Dancer’s filly, would ever

replace Dancer in her heart. Joelle blames the filly for Dancer’s death. Day after day she

hates the filly more and more and does as little as she can to groom and train the filly

(which her parents insisted on her doing). But then something happens which made her

change her mind forever. It was a wet Monday, just after school. Jeff was missed at the

barns and so Joelle was sent by her parents to find him. It was raining cats and dogs

outside and panic rose as she could find neither Jeff nor the filly. She went out in the

paddock and went to the creek. She couldn’t believe her eyes as she saw that the filly,

Midnight, was pulling a small figure that had fallen into the water. Dancer’s daughter was

saving Joelle’s little brother’s life! From that day on Joelle worked harder with the filly

always giving her the love she needed!

Stories chosen by Jacqueline Wilson

This is a perfect book for animal-lovers. Half of the

book is devoted to cats. My favourite cat story

is ‘Orlando’s Invisible Pyjamas’ by Kathleen Hale. In

it, a cat named Orlando, who was married and

had three kittens, loses his fur after an incident

involving paraffin. Naturally this gives him a queer

look, and so, he didn’t won’t to show himself to

other cats. However, Grace, his loving wife, knits

him a pair of pyjamas that match his fur. When she

takes it to wash it, Orlando finds that his natural fur

has grown back on! The next part includes writings from Michael Morpurgo,

Enid Blyton and Jean Ure about the pets they’ve owned. The last part was

devoted to dog stories. My favourite story was an extract from’ Born to Run’, a

book by Michael Morpurgo. This was about a boy named Patrick, who saved

some puppies. He took fancy to a particular one, whom he named ‘Best

Mate’. Unfortunately he couldn’t keep him due to a restricted space of their

flat. After a twist in the story, it ends happily, as it always does.

NANCY DREW: THE CLUE IN THE OLD ALBUM

Ylenia Sciberras Berlin

This book by Carolynn Keene describes the mystery a young detective named

Nancy Drew has to solve. The mystery starts by an old lady getting her purse

snatched by a thief in the opera Nancy and her father were attending. Nancy

managed to get the purse back but the things inside it were stolen. The old

lady, a doll collector tells Nancy about her daughter that died a few years

before and also of her husband a Romanian violinist. Nancy was given a clue

by the lady that her daughter had told her on her death bed and with that

clue Nancy had to find out about the lady’s

granddaughter’s father and also the

importance of the doll left to the little girl by

her mother. It was a very dangerous mystery

and even though she is poisoned by a

French sword-swordman doll, run off the

road in her car by an enemy and sent

many warnings to give up her case. Nancy

didn’t give up and in the end managed to

solve the case of the location of the girl’s

father and the importance of the doll.
