DESCRIPTION

ISIDORE is the largest open data of A&H project. Created by TGE Adonis from CNRS, ISIDORE is a point to access data thru a web plateform, an API and a SPARQL end point.

Situation of the digital data and existing services in France

Data

Into the ISIDORE « box »

Data

Data

Data

● Stage 1 (november 2009 – november 2010)

● Unified access to the current data of the "historical" operators

● Search engine + web, API, Sparql endpoint● Stage 2 (november 2010 – november 2011)

● References construction et normalization● Enrichment of ISIDORE's services (API + S-endpoint)

● Stage 3 (november 2011 – november 2012)

● Data producer references dissemination● Uptake of new connectors based of RDFa, RDF

Planning

Core of ISIDORE

● Involvement of A&H data producers : Librairies ; Open archives ; Electronic editors, etc.

● Use of the international standards, with favour to open standards (RDF, RDFa, RSS, OAI-PMH, XML, XSL, etc.)

● Actions of dissemination of the ISIDORE methods● Enhancement of structured data, metadata,

references autority list made by researchers or information managers from labs

● Iterative process

Team

Partnership between public and private sector

1 ) An internal CNRS's team

● Project directors : Jean-Luc Minel (Univ. Paris Ouest La Défense) and Stéphane Pouyllau (CNRS engineer at TGE ADONIS)

● Project manager : Laurent Capelli, (CNRS engineer at CCSD)

● Software developpers & web : Jean-baptiste Génicot, Philippe Correia, Loic Comparet (TGE ADONIS et CCSD)

2) a european tenders assigned to a consortium by Antidot, Mondeca, Sword

- contribution to the international visibility of the A&H data production

- unified access to the repartee data

- contribution to the reflexion on the evolution of the workspace environment of the A&H researcher

- construction of new references

- exploitation on the A&H metadata

- scattering of the best practices in A&H (project managment, use of main formats, standards, etc... )

Expected gains

Technological gains for Social Sciences and Humanities

● ISIDORE : between web 2.0 and web 3.0 world :

● ISIDORE use web of data and linked data methods● ISIDORE helps to disseminate RDF model into A&D

databases● ISIDORE helps to open and share scientific data

Others similar projects

For researchers ISIDORE is also a web site.

Currently : ISIDORE contents

745 data point harvested, and more than 900 000 documents indexed.

Navigation principles

● Query on words● Boolean operators● Dynamic filtering on several criteria such as :

● Temporal periods● Documentation typology ● Data providers● Specific categories from main providers such as

Calenda.org, Open Archives, etc.

Navigation principles

● Assisted queries based on principles of association which use● Lexical frequencies calculation● Similarities between texts (bag of words)● Heuristics

Isidore in the cloud computing

ISIDORE : from a provider point of view

● ISIDORE provides a persistent identification for the harvested data (handle system) : ● If the ressource has already a persistent ID (DOI,

…) the provider choose between– Using this ID– Using the ID given by ISIDORE (handle)

● If the ressource does not have an ID– The provider could use the ID given by ISIDORE

(handle)

=> Persistent identification service

ISIDORE : from a researcher point of view

● Enhancement of data : ● Exploring an issue ● Perusing a scientific field ● Surveying a topic

● Toolkit : ● ISIDORE is also an API

● Integration in the Web site tools ● Access point using standards of Web of data(sparql

end point)
