Employee’s Wellness Day
St Chads CHC health workers
participating in a fun walk.
“ As health workers we should commit ourselves in living a
healthy lifestyle everyday”, said Dr. MGM Marwha who is one of
the health workers who is energetic, who always keep his body
healthy by participating in physical activities.
MEC for KZN Department of Health, Dr. Sibongiseni Dhlomo is
calling upon health care workers to be exemplary to their clients
by living active and a healthy lifestyle. On the 5th September
2014, St Chads CHC heeded the call and embarked on a 7km
fun walk and positively participated in other physical activities
(Soccer, netball, volleyball, egg and spoon race and whoo-
la whoops).
As one of the objectives was to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Wellness Committee coordinated sporting activities that
were used to encourage and enhance team work. And
good part of the day was that all activities were sure cased
to put a smile on everyone’s face.
BE WELL LIVE WELL
Together Everyone Achieves More # Teamwork
Teamwork in the workplace offers the institution and staff the ability to become more familiar with
each other and learn how to work together— that gives a team an opportunity to understand the
strength and weakness of each team member.
In some cases, team fails due to:
Lack of support, information, time and resources
Lack of clear idea of what they are to accomplish
Lack of skill to work together
It takes a leader to make a real team # poor leadership
When there is team-
work and collabora-
tion, wonderful things
can be achieved

ow to do a Self Examination
1. Stand in front of the mirror and look at your breasts. Lift your arms above your head as though trying
to reach the ceiling and look at your breasts in a stretched position.
2. Check to see that there are no obvious changes between the two sides:
no nipple changes or visible lumps.
3. Now feel your breasts. Use the flat surface of your fingers.
4. Always keep your hand flat on your breast.
5. Apply cream, shower gel, soap or oil to your breasts before starting to feel.
This will help your hand glide easily over your skin and make it easier to feel for any lumps.
6. Put one hand on your head. The free hand will check the opposite breast.
7. Start feeling in the arm pit.
8. Now move in the figure of a six and around the entire breast, until you reach the nipple.
9. Now go back to the arm pit, moving from top to bottom of the breast, covering the whole area once again.
10. Last one now, move from the arm pit in a side to side direction, again covering the whole breast.
11. The breast starts from the collar bone, down to your abdominal wall and from your breast bone to mid way
through your side.
12. Also check if there is a discharge from the nipple. To do this, gently squeeze the nipple to see if any fluid
comes through. The only time there should be something coming out of the nipple is when you are breast feeding. If the fluid is
yellow or green it shows infection. If it is clear or blood stained go straight to the doctor for a check up.
