DAY TWO ACTIVITY BOOK OBJECTIVES In completing the activities, you will learn in iSite PACS 4.1 how to:

• Login, search, and create a personal folder • Create and apply a worklist filter • Search, query and view records. • Identify a record’s SUID and hash folder • Cache a patient record • View the exam canvas page • Extract modality, SUID, and Accession Number from a patient’s timeline • Install and login to iSite Radiology • Perform common radiology tasks such as

o Measurement o Window Level o Adjust brightness, and contrast o Save a presentation state o Create a “Key” Image

• Delete and recover an image • View statistics and deleted images • Add a note to a patient exam • Make notes automatically display upon opening an image • Create and edit a hanging protocol • Add a Clone • Change the monitor preview • Make an anonymous CD copy of a patient’s record and image

DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activities. For each activity, the first two steps relate how to login to either iSite Enterprise or iSite Radiology. To identify icons on the Folder List, a forward slash, i.e., “/” is used to identify the path. For instance the instruction, “go to Folder List / iSite Tools and click Patient Lookup,” means the following:

a) Look in the Folder List pane b) Find the iSite Tools folder c) Click the plus “+” sign to expand the folder if needed d) Click the icon Patient Lookup.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 1 OBJECTIVE In this activity, you learn how to install iSite Enterprise. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer. 2. Double click on the Documents folder and go to:

3. In the folder, double click the icon iSiteEnterpriseSetup.exe to begin the

iSite Enterprise install. 4. When the Open File – Security Warning window opens, click the Run

button. 5. At the Choose Setup Language window, select English (United States)

and click the OK button. 6. After a few moments, the InstallShield Wizard window appears and begins

the extraction. Click the Next button when it becomes active. 7. For Custom Setup, click Next to install to the default folder location for the

iSite Enterprise application. 8. For the Client Configuration Info enter the Server:

(Ask your instructor)

9. After you enter the server IP address, click the Install button. 10. When the InstallShield Wizard Completed message appears, click the

Finish button. 11. Congratulations! You successfully installed iSite Enterprise. You may want

to add this link to your favorites.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 2 OBJECTIVE In this activity, you learn how to login, search, and create a folder. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer and go to the URL http://localhost/. 2. Login by entering the following information:

User Name: administrator Password: changeme

3. Pick an Accession Numbers from the list below and use the same number for the various activities. Each participant should use a unique number.

NOTE: Instructor can use Accession Number 1271617 (Anderson, Stanley) for demonstration purposes.

4. In the Folder List under Personal Folders, right mouse click and select Add new Folder. Name this folder using your first initial and last name.

5. Go to the Folder List / iSite Tools and click the Exam Lookup icon. Copy and paste your Accession Number in the Accession # field and click the Search button. When the patient study appears, click and drag this record into the personal folder you created.

6. Click on your personal folder and verify that the record appears inside. Write down the patient name on the line provided below.

7. Next, right mouse click on your personal folder and select Create Shortcut

from the popup menu. In the Shortcuts pane a new folder icon appears. Click the icon and verify that the link opens your personal folder.

8. Congratulations! You now know how to login, add a personal folder, add s shortcut, and search for an accession number.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 3 OBJECTIVE In this activity, you learn how to create and apply a filter Preference. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer and go to the URL http://localhost/. 2. Login by entering the following information:

User Name: administrator Password: changeme

1. Under the Philips’ logo, click the "P" icon to open the Preferences Dialog window.

3. In the Preference’s Dialog window, click on the plus sign (“+”) to expand the User Preferences’ tree and click Filters.

4. To create a filter, click the Add button to open the Add Filter window. 5. Once the Add Filter window opens, enter the following information:

• Filter Name: [Enter your name and last initial.] • Description: [Enter “PACS 4.1 Training.”] Under General Filter Criteria, make the following selection:

• Modality: CR Under Exam Worklist, make the following selections: • Status: Scheduled • Has Images: With Images • Mark Read: Unread Exams Exception Worklist • Click the Exception Worklist checkbox

6. Click the OK button to close the Add Filter window. 7. Click the Apply button in the Preference Dialog window. 8. Click the OK button to close the Preference Dialog window. 9. In the Folder List, click the plus sign “+” next to the My Filters folder to

expand the tree. 10. Click the name you gave the filter in step 6 to display the search results.

NOTE: Exceptions appear in the screen’s lowest pane under the filter name. Exceptions occur when a record is missing the an order or images. QUESTION: Why are there no records in the upper pane?

4. When the record appears in the Exam Lookup list make note of the

Name field, enter the name you recorded in Step 4 (last name first.) 6. Double click on the patient name to see the patient’s exams. 7. Now, open the Exam Dialog box (you should see a small radiology icon

next to the exam record.)

8. From the Exam Dialog window, record the following information on the line below and in a Notepad txt file (NOTE: saving this information electronically will save you from having to manually enter these numbers in later activities.)

SUID: ____________________________________________________ NOTE: This number appears in the bottom pane. It is the first number you see. Capture the entire sequence of numbers.

Hashed Folder Number: _______________________________________ NOTE: This number appears after the word “Hashed”. Include all zeros.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 5 OBJECTIVE In this activity, you learn how to add a patient’s exam to the Local Exam Cache. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer and go to the URL http://localhost/. 2. Login by entering the following information:

User Name: administrator Password: changeme

3. Click the Personal folder you created in Activity 1 and open it. It is under Folder List / iSite Tools / Personal Folders / your personal folder.

4. Click and highlight the patient name. 5. Click and drag the patient record to the Local Exam Cache folder under

Folder List / iSite Tools / Local Exam Cache. 6. Click the Local Exam Cache folder and open it. Do you see your exam

record?

QUESTION: Why would you recommend using or not using your Local Exam Cache?

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 6 OBJECTIVE In this activity, you learn how to view the canvas age and identify an image’s modality, accession number, and timeline. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer and go to the URL http://localhost/. 2. Login by entering the following information:

User Name: administrator Password: changeme

3. Click the Exam Lookup icon and locate your Patient Exam. If it does not already appear, search on the Accession # you used in the first activity.

4. Double click on the Patient Exam record. 5. Once the canvas page appears, answer the following questions:

a) What modality is listed on the timeline?

c) How many images are in each series?

6. Click the Exam Lookup button to return to the Exam Lookup screen 7. In the Folder List / iSite tools, click the Patient Lookup and search with all

fields blank. This list displays all the patients in the system. 8. Repeat the activity. Double click on a patient name and to see their exam

records. Then, double click on an exam record to view the canvas page 9. Repeat steps 5 to 7 and view several records. 10. Congratulations! You now know how open the canvas page, view an exam

image, and identify the modality.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 7 OBJECTIVE In this activity, you learn how to install iSite Radiology. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer. 2. Double click on the Documents folder and go to:

3. In the folder, double click the icon iSiteRadiologySetup.exe to begin the

iSite Radiology install. 4. When window Open File – Security Warning appears, click the Run

button. 5. At the Choose Setup Language window, select English (United States)

and click the OK button. 6. After a few moments, the InstallShield Wizard window appears and begins

the extraction. Click the Next button when it becomes active. 7. At the iSiteRadiology – InstallWizard window when you see the message

Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for iSiteRadiology, click the Next button to begin the installation.

8. For the Client Configuration Info enter the Server:

(Ask your instructor)

9. After you enter the server IP address, click the Next button. 10. Click Next to accept the default location for the Destination Folder. 11. For Setup Type, select the Complete radio button and then the Next

button to continue with the installation. 12. When you see Ready to Install the Program, click the Install button and

monitor the Status bar. 13. When the InstallShield Wizard Completed message appears, click the

Finish button.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 8 OBJECTIVE In this activity you perform common radiology tasks such as using the Measurement Palette, Window Level, brightness, and contrast. In addition you also save a Presentation State and create a “Key” Image. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. Click the MS Windows Start button and click the following path:

All Programs / Philips Medical / iSiteRadiology / iSite Radiology 3. Login using the following information:

4. Click the Exam Lookup icon under the Folder List / iSite Tools and search for an Accession Number:

5. Double click on the exam record to see the canvas page. 6. Double click on the image thumbnail and move the large image to the

diagnostic monitor. 7. If you do not see the measurement palette, right click on the image and

select the submenu: Window Width/level / System WW/WL Presets / Soft Tissue

8. Now, close the image window and restore the default settings. Right mouse click on the image. This time select the submenu: Window Width/level / WW/WL Default

9. Now let’s change the image brightness. Click the image and then click and hold the mouse down while you move the mouse pointer up and down. Notice how the brightness increases while you move the mouse pointer up and decreases when you move it down.

10. Next, let’s change the contrast. Click the image and then click and hold the mouse while you move the mouse pointer to the left and right to change the contrast. The background contrast grows darker as you move the mouse pointer to the left and lighter to the right. Let’s create an angle on the image. Right mouse click on the image and select the submenu to see the Measurements pop-up palette: Measurements/Measurement Palette.

11. Select the Right Angle icon (second icon from the left on the palette.) 12. Left click once to set the first point. Drag to the second point and click

again. Drag to a third point and click again. The numbers you see represent the angles you drew. Close the window and double click on the image thumbnail to reopen it. The angles you drew remain on the image.

13. Now, let’s create a Key image. A key image is created by a radiologist. A Key Image best reveals the diagnosis. To create a key image, place the mouse over the image and press the keyboard Space Bar.

14. Next let’s save the presentation state. Place the mouse over the Shelf Bar and right mouse click. Select the submenu: Presentation State/Save Presentation State

15. When the Save Presentation State window appears, enter your name in the Enter Presentation State Name field and select the radio button Technologist.

16. Click the OK button to close the Save Presentation State Window. 17. Congratulations! You now know how to create a radiological presentation

state and key image.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 9 OBJECTIVE In this activity you will delete and recover an image. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the exercise.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer and go to the URL http://localhost/. 2. Login by entering the following information:

User Name: administrator Password: changeme

3. Go to Patient Lookup under the Folder List / iSite Tools. Locate your patient record (the name you captured in the third activity.)

4. Double click on the patient’s name to see the patient’s exam records. 5. Double click on an exam record to open the canvas page. 6. Right mouse click on a patient’s exam and select from the popup menu

Delete / Delete Image. 7. When the Enter the Reason for Rejection Dialog window appears, select a

reason from bottom pane and it should appear in the Reason field. 8. Click OK to close the window.

Now, let’s recover the deleted image.

9. Right mouse click on the Shelf Bar and select Recover Deleted Images from the popup menu.

10. When the iSite Enterprise warning appears asking “Are you sure you want to recover the deleted image(s)?”, click the Yes button.

11. When the iSite Enterprise warning appears, “Image(s) have been successfully recovered. Please close and reopen the exam to view the recovered images(s)”, click the OK button.

12. Click the Patient Lookup button. When you return to the Patient Lookup, double click on the exam and verify that the deleted image was recovered.

13. Congratulations! You now know how to delete and recover an image.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 10 OBJECTIVE In this activity, you learn how to view statistics and deleted images. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer and go to the URL http://localhost/. 2. Login by entering the following information:

User Name: administrator Password: changeme

3. Click Statistics under the Folder List / iSite Tools / Statistics 4. Click the Deleted Images link on the top right. 5. Make the following selections and click the Query button:

• From: March 1 2008 to April 1 2008

• Modality All 6. Click the Query button. Note in the results, you see the Study UID and

the Series UID for each deleted image. 7. Click and drag to highlight the Study UID. Copy the Study UID. 8. Go to the Study Lookup under Folder List / iSite Tools. 9. Paste the SUID into the SUID field and click the Search button. 10. Copy the Accession Number. 11. Click the Open button to open the exam and go to the Canvas page. 12. Right mouse click on the Shelf Bar. Select Recover Deleted Image(s). 13. Congratulations! You have learned how to recover a deleted image.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 11 OBJECTIVE In this activity you will add a note to a patient exam. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the exercise.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer and go to the URL http://localhost/. 2. Login by entering the following information:

User Name: administrator Password: changeme

3. Go to the Exam Lookup and locate your exam record. If needed, search on the Accession # you used for the first activity.

4. Double click on the exam record to go to the canvas page. 5. Double click on the Note icon in the Shelf Bar to open the Clinical

Information: Exam Notes window. 6. In the Note window, click the New Note button. Then, enter a Subject and

Description. When through, click the Save button and finally click the Close button to close the window. Now, let’s change your preferences to automatically display notes when an image is opened.

7. Open Preferences by clicking the “P” icon under the Philips logo. 8. When the Preferences Dialog window appears, select User Preferences /

General Preferences from the tree. 9. Under Options, click the checkbox Automatically Display Exam Notes for

unread exams. 10. Click the Apply button followed by the OK button to close the window. 11. On the canvas page, click Exam Lookup to return to the main page. 12. Click the personal folder you created. 13. Double click the patient’s exam record and the Clinical Information: Exam

Notes window should appear. 14. Close the Notes window. 15. Congratulations! You now know how to add a note and automatically

display notes for unread exams.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 12 OBJECTIVE In this activity, you learn how to create and Edit a Hanging Protocol. Add a Clone. Change the Monitor Preview. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer and go to the URL http://localhost/. 2. Login by entering the following information:

4. Double click on the patient exam to see the canvas page. 5. To begin creating a hanging protocol, right click on the Shelf Bar. 6. Select Create User Hanging Protocol. The Create User Hanging Protocol

window appears. 7. Enter the information below and then click the Next button:

Name: CT Invert Width Identifier: Modality and Body Part (CT, STNDCMTK) Type: Default

8. At the Create User Hanging Protocol window, select the Add Clone button. (NOTE: this step assumes the image record has a stack.)

9. Click on the Clone under Other Series. 10. Select the Invert Image checkbox. 11. Click the Next button. 12. At the Monitor 1 Mode pick-list, select M2H. This indicates you use two

horizontal monitors to view images. NOTE: in the bottom right of the window the Monitor Preview changes based on the configuration you select.)

13. Click the Next button. 14. Click the Finish button. Open an image and view it on the radiographic

monitor. Notice how the display changed. 15. Return to the Shelf Bar and right mouse click. Select Edit Hanging

Protocol to edit the Hanging Protocol you just created. 16. Take a few minutes to explore and make additional changes to the

Hanging Protocol you created. 17. Congratulations you now know the basics about creating and editing a

hanging protocol.

DAY TWO ACTIVITY 13 OBJECTIVE In this activity, you learn how to make an anonymous copy of a patient exam. DIRECTIONS Read the instruction and complete the activity.

1. Open MS Internet Explorer and go to the URL http://localhost/. 2. Login by entering the following information:

User Name: administrator Password: changeme

3. Click on Exam Lookup and if you do not see your record search on the Accession Number from the first activity.

4. Click and drag the patient record to the CD Manager under Folder List / iSite Tools / CD Manager

5. Click the CD Manager icon. 6. In the bottom frame on the right, leave as “Export to: My iSiteExport.”

This makes a copy in the specified folder on your local drive. 7. Under Protection, click the Anonymize checkbox. This randomizes the

names and patient information for privacy and security reasons. 8. Click the Start button. 9. View and monitor the process Status at the bottom of the frame

where you see a progress bar of the copy. 10. When the Status is complete, left mouse click the Microsoft Windows Start

button and select Explore from the pop-up menu. In the Explore window, go to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My iSiteExport. In the folder, double click on the file ISITEMEDIAVIEWER.EXE.

11. When the Philips iSite Viewer opens, double click on the Exam Record to open the canvas page. How do the images compare? How does the Patient Name compare to the name you captured in the first activity?

12. On the canvas page, click the Patients tab to return to the patient list. Highlight the Patient Exam and CTL+ ALT + mouse click on the Exam Record to open the patient's metadata. What happens and why?

13. Congratulations! You have learned to make an anonymous copy of a patient’s exam record.
