Thank you for considering our Head Teacher vacancy at Islamia Primary School. Islamia Primary School was established in 1983 by Yusuf Islam, it is a two form entry voluntary-aided school with a religious character situated in North West London. Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum enhanced by Qur'anic, Arabic and Islamic Studies in a secure Islamic environment through the application of the Qur'an and Sunnah. The school is currently operating across 2 sites with pupils from Reception, Year 1,2,5,and 6 at the main Salusbury Road site and Year 3-4 based across the road at Winkworth Hall. Ofsted has awarded the school ‘Good’ in its last 2 inspections. Our school aspires to be nothing short of outstanding in all aspects of school life and we work hard to nurture and produce a generation that contribute positively to the wider community. The Board of Governors is very active in constantly striving to improve outcomes for the staff and children of the school. We are seeking an experienced school leader who is dedicated to providing a challenging, broad and rich curriculum in all its aspects. The prospective candidate should be an outstanding leader and primary practitioner who has the passion; skills and determination to rapidly improve pupil outcomes for all groups of pupils in the school. Someone who is passionate about our ethos, values and shares our vision, someone who will ‘go the extra mile’ to achieve progress and attainment for all groups of pupils. The successful candidate will need to appreciate and understand the school’s history and journey to VA status and position as the flag ship School for local authority funded Muslim education. Job Title: Head Teacher

Line of Responsibility:

The Head Teacher will have overall responsibility for the running and management of the school on

a day to day basis. The Head Teacher will be recruited in light of the mission statement, and is

expected maintain an Islamic environment where children and staff are happy, secure and able to

thrive academically and spiritually whilst aiming to provide outstanding leadership and management

of the school, to secure sustainable success and ensure the highest standards of learning and

personal development for its pupils for the highest possible levels of achievement.

Core Purpose:

To provide professional leadership and management to the whole school

Ethos and Leadership:

To raise and maintain academic standards and ensure a high standard of education is provided at the school, within our Islamic ethos and culture (in accordance with the Quran, Sunnah and intra-Islamic tolerance based on the respect and justice within the paradigm of orthodox Sunni Islam).

Strategic direction and development of the school:

Maintain an ethos of excellence and endeavour that promotes and secures

outstanding teaching, excellent learning and the highest standards of achievement

strategic leadership and direction for the establishment of the school.

Provide inspiring and purposeful leadership for the staff and pupils within a caring and

secure Islamic environment. Determine, organise, implement and monitor the

curriculum and its assessment and ensure that it provides an academic focus for all

pupils.

Participate in the recruitment and selection of teaching and non-teaching staff

Lead, co-ordinate and monitor the continuing professional development of staff, including the induction of newly qualified teachers, based on assessment of needs and in relation to the standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and standards for induction.

Ensure that professional duties are fulfilled, as specified in the Contract of

Employment, including those for the Head Teacher

Arrange for the Deputy or suitable person, to assume responsibility for the discharge

of the Head Teacher’s function at any time when absent from school

control by effective management of the school’s budget.

Rational allocation and monitoring of time, space and material resources.

Ensuring effective and safe arrangements for the situating and storage of material and

equipment

Make arrangements for the security and effective supervision of the school buildings, their

contents and the grounds and organise the accommodation efficiently and effectively to

ensure it meets the needs of the curriculum and Health and Safety regulations.

Ensure effective working relationships with external agencies and services contracted to

the school.

Recruit and retain staff of the highest quality and assist in their professional development.
