The varied landscape island of Thassos impressed withthree mountain ranges, waterfalls and marble cliffs, extending over some 380 square kilometers of island

area. Its picturesque villages - small fishing villages on thecoast or high-altitude, old mountain villages enchant

visitors. The vegetation of the volcanic island has produced a

variety of trees: pine woods - olive trees - the Calabrianpine and arbutus.

The archaeological sites include the ancient naval port ofthe island's capital Limenas located on a mountainside

and the theater from the 4th Century BC. Gold mines and marble - the tasty wine and marvelous

honey make the island famous.
