Replace the air filter for hygienic reasons. Because without air circulation, dark, warm and humid conditions favors bacterial growth within the HVAC system.

Properly dispose of used filters and PPE / gloves in a sealed bag / box.

Dispose of waste outside. For hygienic reasons transport the used filter to a waste collection area without entering the building if possible.

Clean hands when the task is finished.

Use the highest efficiency rated filter recommended by the manufacturer and reference any WHO guidelines (World Health Organisation).

Protect yourself. When replacing air filters (including HEPA filters) use proper safety procedures and PPE.

Handle used filters carefully. Avoid dropping or shaking the filter and do not use compressed air to clean the filter. This causes particles to become airborne.
