ISO 527 (Plastics -- Determination of Tensile Properties) specifies a specific range of data processing methods to use in obtaining data items, such as

elastic modulus. ISO 527 prescribes that elastic modulus be determined from the slope between extensions of 0.05% and 0.25%. In order to measure

these micro extensions, an accuracy of at least ±1 micron is required for the extensometer (for gauge length of 50 mm). Such measurements are not

possible with conventional automatic extensometers. However, Shimadzu´s new automatic extensometer, SIE-560S, satisfies this demand!

Additionally, the SIE-560S is capable of measuring both elastic and plastic regions, thus making it possible to measure elasticity and elongation at

break point. Another capability of the extensometer is PC control of the extensometer arm opening/closing functions and gauge length setting. This

provides ease of operation and reduction of operator-induced error, resulting in significant decreases in sample loss and reduced test-to-test time

requirements.

Semi-automation is possible

Extensometer Details

In addition to the SIE-560S introduced above, the standard model extensometer SIE-560 is also available. Please select the extensometer that best

suits your application.
