Dear Students:

We would like to congratulate Jenny Kim, Aparna Mohan and India Raniolo. They are now published authors! Theirarticles on life in Manila were selected for publication in Faces Magazine (A Cobblestone Publication). What anaccomplishment!

Stay active and stay involved this semester. See the bulletin for details on the 2 nd Semester after-school activities andsports because there is something for everyone. Some competitive teams require tryouts while other activities are opento all. Many students say the activities program is the best part of being a student at ISM.

Lets build a strong team for the Academic Bowl! Tryouts will take place this week during lunch in the MSMC on Mondaythe 24 th , Wednesday the 26 th and Friday the 28 th . Contact Mrs. Birchenall for more information.

The IASAS Boys and Girls Basketball tournament is coming to ISM! The tournament starts on Thursday, January 27 andfinishes on Saturday, January 29. Be sure to come and support the Bearcats!

MATHCOUNTSANNOUNCEMENT

Greetings Mathletes and welcometo another semester of MATH-COUNTS, on Tuesdays from 3:00P.M. to 5:00 P.M. The competitionseason is upon us and to help uspractice, weve got our first com-petition on Tuesday, January 25, inroom 1057 (not Coach Millettes

usual room of 2067), from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00P.M. PLEASE BRING A CALCULATOR! The competi-tion is for practice, but I will be awarding prizes tothe first and second place of each grade level (grade5 is invited for this round). So, bring a pencil, eraserand calculator and join the fun!

Middle School Academic Bowl Tryouts

Mrs. Birchenall wants to increase and strengthen the MS Academic Bowl team. She wouldlike a mixture of students from grades 5 8. We need to build on our experience andalso involve the younger students in Middle School. Successful students will representISM at the next Academic Bowl meeting between ISM, Faith Academy and Brent Interna-tional School.

Tryouts will take place in the Middle School Media Centre (library) during MS lunch-time on Monday, 24th, Wednesday, 26 th and Friday, 28 th January. You can tryout asmany times as you wish.

IASAS BASKETBALL HOUSINGIASAS Basketball will be taking place at ISM January 27-29,2011. All housing placement are now secured and I thankall families that will open their homes next weekend to theIASAS athletes. Confirmation letters have been distributedthis week via students so families should know by now whothey are housing etc. Details of pick up times, etc. are all

IASAS BASKETBALL Please see the IASAS Basketball Championships schedule inthis bulletin. I hope many of the ISM community will comeand support our teams during this event. We hope to havefull gyms and a great atmosphere for all our visiting teams.Come out and cheer for the Bearcats.

Whilst our Basketball teams are battling here at home, ourother season 2 teams will be doing the same in Taipei(Rugby/Touch), Singapore (Tennis), and Kuala Lumpur(Swimming).
