clubs lists attached. There are 3

lists: PE clubs, Performing Arts

Clubs and all others. I shall keep you

October Half-

term If any parents are going to struggle

with child care during the second

week of half-term, please can you

inform the school on

[email protected] by

Wednesday 13th September. We

are currently exploring whether to

put on some kind of holiday club

which will incur a small charge.

Before we move things to the next

stage, we need to understand

whether there is a need and

whether it would be viable to run.

New Car Park

Layout When dropping of Students at the

beginning of the school day, please

drive around the car park and use

the new drop off zones. Parents

should not park in the bays, they are

to drop their children off and exit

imminently. Students should then

Education for life in all its fullness

walk along footpaths into school

and not across the car park.

When collecting Students at the end

of the day, please park in the car

park behind the bus bays. To access

this, please drive up towards the All

Weather Pitch and turn left at the

end. Parents should not park in the

main car park or in the drop off

bays at the end of school. All

students will then file out of school

along the footpaths and congregate

in one area. When exiting the car

park, please ensure you follow the

arrows to the exit gate. The exit

gate will open automatically on

approach if you stop at the stop

line.

Thank you for your continued

support.

Year 11

Information

Evening This will take place on Tuesday 12th

September at 7pm in the school hall.

We will be discussing how to

support year 11 students both in

school and at home as their GCSE

exams approach.

Online Safety On Tuesday 19th September we are

fortunate to have Nicole Williamson

visit the school to talk with staff and

students about the issue of online

safety. She visited the school earlier

in the academic year and gave a

presentation to parents around the

issue of online safety and how to

keep children safe. In the digital

age in which we live, there are many

ways that young people can

communicate with other people.

This session is a ‘must’ for all those

who are concerned about the safety

of their children when using

technology.

There are 3 areas to be covered in

the session:

- How we educate children

regarding staying safe online.

- Update into the online world

of children.

- Making things safer at home.

This dynamic, high quality

presentation enables parents to

understand the wide array of

applications and websites out there

today, particularly those that

children and young people use.

Those who attended last year were

very complementary of the session

and we hope that you will be able to

make room in your diary to attend.

The session will take place on

Tuesday 19th September at 7pm.

Library News The library is now fully open and

available every day from 8.30am

until 4.30pm, covering breaks and

lunchtimes.

Please encourage your

sons/daughters to choose a book

from our extensive range of fiction;

books can be borrowed for a

maximum of two weeks. The

library is a quiet place to read and

also for Year 7s to complete

Accelerated Reader quizzes on the

computers.

There will be a number of exciting

competitions organised throughout

the year and we would love to see

as many students as possible take

part in these. We will be organising

book clubs for KS3 and KS4 and

appoint library ambassadors- more

details to follow.

We are looking forward to

welcoming our students as they

come and try out our new sofas and

lose themselves in a book or two!

More details on how parents can

contribute will follow next week.
