Following this program, students will have a week of acvies within the College and the community from Monday December 12 to Friday December 16. During this week, some choices will be given to students as to which acvies they would like to be involved in and some of these may involve some small charges to parents. We will be endeavouring to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum and parents are given me to return consent forms and payments. Friday December 16 will be the last day for students as staff will be working on planning and professional learning on Monday December 19 and Tuesday December 20. Please contact your child's Advisory teacher if you have any doubts about the requirements for school at the end of the year. Many students have devices that support their learning and ensure that they are well organised with their school pro- gram. Please check the recommendaons for learning devic- es at hp://www.crusoecollege.vic.edu.au/elearning.html before making any investment in an iPad, Netbook or simi- lar such technology. Achievements on Thursday November 10 While students were at home for the day on Thursday, 10 November, teachers were working hard to build their understanding of the new Victorian Curriculum. The curriculum document specifies certain skills and capabilies that students should learn at school, but doesn't assign them all to parcular subjects. For example, students need to have "Intercultural Capability" but schools could decide that this be taught as a subject on its own or as part of another subject. Teachers spent the day auding the curriculum and finding the places where such capabilies will be taught and assessed next year. Students can look forward to some excing new perspecves in the curriculum as a result of this work. End of year reports End of year reports will be available through the Compass portal later in the year. Reports will not be printed unless parents contact the College to specifically request a hard copy. If you haven't yet accessed Compass, please contact the General Office to be provided with your log in details and password.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL REPORT

Richelle Hollis

On Friday 11th November, we held our final Whole

School Assembly to farewell our current Year 10

students and to announce and welcome our 2017

School Captains.

Our School Captains ran their final assembly where they showcased many of the highlights and achievements of our Year 10 students during 2016. The school was able to wish our Year 10 students all the best of luck in their future education and endeavours. This assembly was a fitting and at times emotional occasion that allowed the college as a whole to come together to give our Year 10 students a big and heart felt farewell.

All students and staff watched the Year 10 video that

the students produced. This was accepted with many

cheers and lots of laughs. Well done to the producers

of the video.

Our 2016 captains passed the baton to our

incoming 2017 School captains, Jaidyn Berry, Katie

McKellar, and Vice captains, Mikaela Beagley and

Ryan Robinson. Congratulations to you all, and I would

like to say a big ‘Thank you’ to our outgoing School

captains Thomas Wigney and Dakota Poole and Vice

captains Kayley Stewart and Bradley Woodward. Your

leadership and assistance at assemblies, Anzac Day

and Remembrance Day ceremonies, COGB Youth

Action meetings, Leadership conferences and all the

other incidental jobs that you have assisted teachers

and students with. You have always shown great

respect and conducted yourselves with pride in our

school. You should very proud of the job you have done

during 2016 as our School Captains.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Drew Roberts On Thursday, 10th November in the JB Osborne Theatre we hosted our annual End of Year Music Concert. The stage was set, the lights were on, the students were nervous, the audience keen. At 7pm we started. The concert was a great success, the students performed very well, the audience clapped and cheered. What a night!!! What a way to finish the Music Program for 2016!!! Well done to all the performers and Instrumental Music Staff. We are looking forward to 2017.

DYSON COMMUNITY NEWS

Carole Waterson—Community Leader

Congratulations to 8C who took out the 2016 trophy at the

recent Year 8 Dodgeball Championship. All year 8’s have

been playing a round robin tournament over the last term,

with 8C and 8A making it to the grand final. It was a nail

biting match that came down to the last final seconds with

8C coming out the victors.

Well done to all the forms, who played in great spirit

throughout the series, and displayed fantastic sportsman-

ship, in victory or defeat!

Farewell and good luck to all our Year 10 students who will

finish formal classes this week. It’s been a privilege working

with these students over the last 3 years, and they will be

missed in the Dyson Community. They have forged great

friendships with our junior students and we have enjoyed

watching them grow into fine young adults.

We wish them all the best in their exams next week and

encourage them to leave a really positive footprint on

Crusoe College when they leave!

Thank you to all our Year 10 Dyson Leadership group for

their support this year. They made a difference by leading

our sports days and activities within Dyson Community,

leading assemblies and being good role-models. The stu-

dents completed their final obligation this week

interviewing and selecting the 2017 Dyson Student leaders.

As there are only a few weeks left before our students move

to the next year level for Step-Up, all students are

encouraged to ensure all work is completed to the best of

their ability to reap the rewards of their efforts.

Please regularly check Compass for due dates and

outstanding work that may need completion. Teachers are

always on hand to support students in their endeavours of

completing work.
