Issued 4 th May 2018 GM Message This week, we had separate but important discussions with two of our major clients that were focused on human behaviours specifically, a simple focus that our behaviours are key to getting us to work without injury. One discussion was carried out as part of Shell Safety Day so was had across all of our sites with QGC and the other was part of a study on Error Traps & Human Performance that we have been participating in with Chevron and our crews on Barrow Island. The consistent theme in those discussions was about the importance of having in depth conversations about operating safely within our work teams. Bearing in mind that a conversation is about asking questions and seeking information from all of the participants in the group – it’s not just one person talking and everyone else listening (or not listening). And, at times, to be truly valuable these conversations need to be personal and uncomfortable in order to get to the bottom of the issue. We continue to focus on making sure that we have a company where we can comfortably say “I don’t know” or “Can you help me here” or “I can see you struggling with this task, can I help?” Sounds pretty good right . . . but what about when you are on the 11 th hour of the 13 th day of your hitch or you are trying to wrap up a project at the end of a long week. It certainly gets harder for me to think that way . . . what about you? Some questions that were posed to me during my discussions this week were: If an error occurs, how do I react and what questions do I ask to get to the underlying cause? What factors make errors more or less likely in our operation, do we talk about them and what do we do about them? How can I encourage people to come to me with concerns and discuss errors? Perhaps these questions will be useful or others and I encourage you continue the great conversations that are happening on our sites every day. There is a continued and fantastic focus on safe rig start-ups. Rig 27 will be the next to kick off and will start up next week all going well. Thanks to all involved in the big effort in getting this rig from the Cooper Basin to Queensland and ready to go to work. Our forward order book for Rigs 27, 101, and 106 continues to fill and there is a tremendous effort going in to make sure these rigs have consistent work along with the rigs that we have with QGC, Santos and Chevron. GM Message This week, we had separate but important discussions with two of our major clients that were focused on human behaviours specifically, a simple focus that our behaviours are key to getting us to work without injury. Bearing in mind that a conversation is

about asking questions and seeking information from all of the participants in the group – it’s not just one person talking and everyone else listening (or not listening). And, at times, to be truly valuable these conversations need to be personal and uncomfortable in order to get to the bottom of the issue. We continue to focus on making sure that we have a company where we can comfortably say “I don’t know” or “Can you help me here” or “I can see you struggling with this task, can I help?” Sounds pretty good right . . . but what about when you are on the 11th hour of the 13th day of your hitch or you are trying to wrap up a project at the end of a long week. It certainly gets harder for me to think that way . . . what about you? Some questions that were posed to me during my discussions this week were:

If an error occurs, how do I react and what questions do I ask to get to the underlying cause? What factors make errors more or less likely in our operation, do we talk about them and what do we do about

them? How can I encourage people to come to me with concerns and discuss errors?

Perhaps these questions will be useful or others and I encourage you continue the great conversations that are happening on our sites every day. There is a continued and fantastic focus on safe rig start-ups. Rig 27 will be the next to kick off and will start up next week all going well. Thanks to all involved in the big effort in getting this rig from the Cooper Basin to Queensland and ready to go to work. March Theme Night The theme was Japanese and our camp staff put in loads of effort with decorations and food! As it is every month, it was a close competition. In the end, judges awarded EWD 106 the winner in both decorations and food categories.

Health and Wellbeing

Health and Wellbeing – The ‘Flu’ Influenza, more commonly known as ‘The Flu’ is a contagious disease of the respiratory tract caused by influenza viruses. Every year, influenza causes serious infection and death around the globe, predominantly during the winter months. Because of some pre-existing immunity that we have to seasonal influenza, most people only suffer illness for a few days to several weeks. Some populations such as the elderly and people with respiratory, cardiac or endocrine diseases may face more significant side effects and can cause death. There are three different types of Flu viruses in humans, types A, B and C. A & B cause major outbreaks, while C is a common cold-like illness in children.

What are flu Vaccinations? Flu vaccinations are vaccines aimed to protect against infection by influenza viruses. New versions are developed twice a year to accommodate the rapid pace at which the virus changes. Effectiveness varies from year to year, with most vaccines providing modest protection against the Flu. These vaccines are generally very safe, with some temporary muscle pains, feelings of tiredness and slight fevers found in some people.

Tips to preventing the flu: 1. Flu Vaccinations

a. The recommended way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated each year, other good health habits

can help stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses like the flu. There are also flu

antiviral drugs that can be used to treat and prevent the flu.

2. Avoid close contact.

a. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to

protect them from getting sick too.

3. Stay home when you are sick.

a. If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. This will help prevent

spreading your illness to others.

4. Cover your mouth and nose.

a. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around

you from getting sick.

5. Clean your hands.

a. Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. If soap and water are not available, use

an alcohol-based hand rub.

6. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

a. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then

touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.

7. Practice other good health habits.

a. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is

ill. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat

nutritious food
