Issues - AllIP JEDI on IPv4/IPv6

The contributor grants a free, irrevocable license to 3GPP2 and its Organizational Partners to incorporate

text or other copyrightable material contained in the contribution and any modifications thereof in the

creation of 3GPP2 publications; to

copyright and sell in Organizational Partner's name any Organizational Partner's standards publication even

though it may include portions of the contribution; and at the Organizational Partner's sole discretion to

permit others to reproduce in whole or in part such contributions or the resulting Organizational Partner's

standards publication. The contributor must also be willing to grant licenses under such contributor

copyrights to third parties on reasonable, non-discriminatory terms and conditions, as appropriate

The All-IP Requirements and NAM requires IPv6 to be supportedin the network, but it does not mandate IPv6 in the MS

Important questions:1) Should IPv6 support be mandated also in the MS (for the IP Mmed domain)2) Make IPv6 the exclusive protocol (no IPv4 support) for IP Multimedia services (Whenever SIP is used) ?3) Make IPv6 the exclusive protocol in the IP Multimedia domain ?

If IPv6 is made exclusive for theIPMMed services?

Interoperability with IPv4 nodes on the Internet ?

Does the MS have to be dual-stack or can it be IPv6 only ?

If both IPv4 and IPv6 needs to be supported...

IPv4 mobile setting up a call to a IPv6 mobile. How does that workend-to-end ?

Does this require that all the nodes in the network are dual-mode/stack ?What impact does this have on complexity ?Are there any interoperabilty issues if both MIPv4 and MIPv6 are used inthe IP MMed domain ?

Is route optimization possible between a MIPv4 mobile and a MIPv6 mobileor will we be forced to route all traffic through the HA ?

What about a dual-stack mobile (if there are any) ? Can MIPv4 and MIPv6co-exist ?

Support of IPv6 is already mandatory in the IP Multimedia domain core network (but not in the MS).

Should it be mandatory also in the Legacy MS Domain CN, e.g. between BSC and Media Gateway ?
