informativo y recomendable

“Put your model where your mouth is -prototyping must be at the core of the
design process.
We never start with this nice-looking picture of our vision, of how
something should look at the end.
The simplest version works the best, and the first version is never the
simplest”

“The 3D MicroScribe arm gave me an accurate representation of
the real world object.
I utilize my time modeling, rather then speculating the shape of the
case in 3D space”

• Test subjects fixtured and digitized
• Data processed in Excel
• to determine the average, 5% shape, and 95% shape
• Resulting Pro/Engineer model
• capable of being tilted to reflect postures

“I found it better to digitize the phone into polygonal strips instead of using curves.
The phone was built in three primary pieces: The face, the keys, and the back. The process took roughly an
hour.
After the initial digitizing, subtle refinements to the phones
surface were made to clean up the geometry and new features
were added on soon after.
It took me about three hours to clean up the polygonal mesh and
add all the new features to the phone.”

“The original goal was to increase the overall size of the handles by 10%.
Some bondo was added to to simulate the material we wanted to add.
I captured some of the 3D curves, such as the parting line and outside contours and many
cross-sections to facilitate building the loft cuts.
Several rounds of Z-Corp models were built from these files to verify the data."

“It was my opinion that the car could be modeled from scratch in the same amount of time that the digitizing process would take.
I quickly found that this was not the case. The system allowed me to quickly get to a set of polygon strips that contained the shape of the car.
From that point it was just a matter of doing subtle refinements on the shape to achieve the desired results. The process turned out to be much quicker than component or branch modeling techniques and allowed me to spend a lot more time making minute refinements.”

Stereolithography Apparatus (SLA) – A process based on the use of photopolymer liquid resins that solidify when exposed to ultraviolet light. (more details in the eBook below)
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) – A process that creates solid three-dimensional objects, layer by layer, from plastic, metal, or ceramic powders that are "sintered" or fused using carbon-dioxide laser energy.
Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) – A process that creates successive cross-sections of a three-dimensional object from threads of plastic or casting wax.
Laminated Object Manufacturing (LOM) – A process that creates a three-dimensional object from layers of paper with a polyethylene coating on the backside.(more details in the eBook below)
3D Printing – A process that creates a three-dimensional object using powder material. A type of ink-jet printing head selectively deposits or "prints" a binder fluid to fuse powder in designated areas.
The Fab@Home builds objects layer by layer, using any material than can be squeezed through a syringe and holds its shape. Materials are hardened by drying, heating, UV light, and other methods as necessary.
