NEW DELHI, Oct 14:

A Delhi court today fixed forFebruary 20, 2015, hearing of thecase involving two Italianmarines, facing murder charges inIndia, after it was informed thatone of the accused has beenallowed by the Supreme Court totravel to his country for medicaltreatment for four months.

The matter came up for hear-ing before Additional SessionsJudge (ASJ) Neena BansalKrishna and the counsel appearingfor accused Massimiliano Latorre,who had suffered brain stroke onAugust 31, told the judge aboutthe apex court's order.

The apex court, on September12, had allowed Latorre to travelto Italy for treatment after theCentre had said that "in principle"it has no objection to his plea.

The apex court, however, hadsaid that its order will be "opera-tional" only after Latorre gives an"unequivocal" and "unambigu-ous" undertaking of dates of

departure and arrival back to India.The case pertains to the killing

of two Indian fishermen allegedlyby Italian marines Latorre andSalvatore Girone on board ship'Enrica Lexie' off Kerala coast onFebruary 15, 2012.

The apex court on January18, 2013, had directed NationalInvestigation Agency (NIA) toprobe the case against the twomarines and had asked the Centreto set up a special court to con-duct trial on a day-to-day basisafter transferring the case from acourt in Kerala to national capi-tal.(PTI)
