To them, great artists were geniuses

Nobles and townspeople filled their homes and churches with art

Artists were well-paid and given honorable place in the society

They developed new art forms based on the classical ideals of beauty, elegance, and balance

There were great new changes in architecture as builders departed from the Gothic and returned to classical.

Eager to show the beauty of the human body, they carefully studied its form and made lifelike statues that accurately showed muscles, joints and other body parts.
