1 Preparation Works.

1.1 Preparing of the exiting roof. The unit rate shall include

costs of demolishing parts of the existing parapets and

around columns steel reinforcement starters, and all the

necessary preparatory works for proper connections of the

new and old structures,all in accordance with the Engineer

instructions. The unit rate shall also include cost of

removing the existing services and utilities and making

temporary connections for all dismantled electrical and

mechanical services to ensure continuous functioning of

the exiting building at the lower floors. The price includes

removing debris away from the site.

1.2 Dismantle and remove the existing waterproofing and

sloping screed on the existing roof( where needed and as

directed by the Engineer) to allow for the new tiling

2 CONCRETE WORKS.

Preamble.

Rates of Concrete Works shall include:-

1 All form works and shuttering in any form, shape and

size. Making chamfered and curved edges, allowing for

and making grooves and sleeves and the like; removal of

forms and cleaning of all exposed tie wires and rods;

making good the harmed surfaces and edges and all

surface finishing.

2. Supplying, Casting, vibrating and curing as per

specifications.

3.Approved additives and admixtures.

4. Incurred costs on Concrete Mix Designs, Sample taking,

testing and providing test results certificates, storing and

saving of samples, and preparation of bar bending

schedules and workshops.

5. Supplying of steel reinforcement of any grade, size and

length as detailed in the drawings, storing on site including

cutting, bending and fixing in position and providing all

tying wires, spacers, shop drawings, testing and bar

bending schedules

Measurement shall be only for the seen surfaces of

elements, overlapping and measuring items twice under

separate headings shall not be allowed.

Slabs are measured in meter square from Center line of

external masonry walls.

2.1 Supply and Cast Reinforced Concrete Grade 'B 250' with a

minimum cement content of 300 Kg. per cubic meter for:

a) Reinforced Walls. M3 6.0

2.2 Ditto but B 300 with a minimum cement content of 350

Kg. per cubic meter for Columns, where required.

2.3 Supply and Cast Reinforced Concrete Grade 'B 250' with a

minimum cement content of 300 Kg. per cubic meter for

suspended slabs. Price to include for projected beams,

other beams projections, and drop beam, canopies supply,

lay and arrange hollow concrete blocks 'Grade 35' for

ribbed slabs, using closed end blocks as required by the

engineer at all ends, edges, openings, services location etc.

The unit rate shall include cost of making the necessary

conections with the slab of the existing stair case for

proper and sound support of the new roof slab; all in

accordance with the engineer's instructions.

3 STONE WORKS.

PREAMBLE.

All Stone works shall be of local white stone of First Choice.

Stone material, size, and texturing shall be in accordance

with detailed drawings and Engineer’s instructions and

approval.

Stones shall be of not less than (5 cm. thick, 25 cm. high

and of length ranging from 1.5 to 3 times the height.)

Stones shall be homogeneous in color and texturing and

free of any defects.

Cutting, shaping and building of stone shall be in straight

angles, no twisting, distortion or uneven sizes shall be

allowed.

All cuttings shall be made using Manual.

Measurement of all types shall be in Meter Square, for the

net dimensions of the vertical plan of the elevations

excluding openings of any area.

No measurement will be made for any recesses,

projections or sides of stone pieces.

Measurement of door and window jambs and reveals,

corner pieces, and the like is not applicable.

No allowances shall be made for stone pieces in any

shape( except for the stone coping)

No allowances or extra rates shall be considered for stone

courses in lintels, overhanging slabs and roof slab courses.

The unit rate shall also include cost of stone pointing.

Taking all the above mentioned into account,

measurement for stone cladding works will follow the

shape of the laded element.

3.1 Supply and build stone walls of 30 cm. thick , to the full

length and height shown in the drawings. Similar to the

existing, the unit rate shall include the following costs:

a) Stone walls with plain concrete cement block backing.

Concrete backing of plain concrete grade B-200 and

cement block Grade 35 (10*20*40 cm) with 2 cm

polystyrene.

4 Block Works

The contractor shall, when pricing the rates of this bill,

take into consideration including and allow for the costs or

expenses of all requirements stipulated in the preambles,

drawings and technical specification of the contract.

Pre cast Concrete hollow bearing blocks built in cement

sand mortar (1:3) mix as specified.

Supply and install hollow concrete blocks built with

cement sand mortar (1:3) mix as specified. The unit price

shall include cost of 20cm minimum high concrete lintel

beams (ring beam) above concrete block walls, at

doors/windows level, and at all block walls parameter.

Unit rate shall include cost of steel reinforcement of

4Ф12mm steel bars with Ф 6mm stirrups@20cm c/c.

The price includes painting the first coarse of the block up

to the tile level with Latix Bituminous Emulsion Material

from an approved company.

5 PLASTERING.

PREAMBLE.

PLASTERING to all areas shall be measured net, including

openings which are less than 0.25 Meter Sq.

The price shall include for running rules , all narrow

widths, for taking out joints on block walls or backing

concrete face for key, for making good to frames around

pipes and other fittings , plastering to jambs and reveals

of openings, side of columns, window sills; all of which

shall be measured as plastering .

Price shall also include Expanded metal lath, angle beads

at all corners and plaster stops at opening edges,

expansion joints, sills, labor, curing, erecting and

dismantling of scaffoldings, additives, pigments and all

incidentals required as specified and / or detailed on the

Drawings .

6 TILING, FLOORING AND MARBLE WORKS

PREAMBLE.

1.All tilling works ( terrazzo, ceramics and marble ) shall be

measured net in square meters. deducting all opening and

voids more than 0.25 m.s.

2.Skirting shall be measured in leaner meter.

3. Marble works for steps and treads of stairs shall be

measured in linear meter. The tread and the riser shall be

measured as a single unit.

4.Marble works for window sills and other openings shall

be measured in squared meter .

5. Marble works for urinals shall be measured in number.

6. Marble works for stair flight’s skirting shall be measured

in linear meter.

7. Rate shall include preparation of surfaces under tiles,

Finnish to falls and cross falls, special tile peace’s for edges

and the like, tile surface finishing, Plastic spacers. Pointing

and cleaning and all incidental as per specifications.

8. Rates shall include also providing and mounting in place

“School Title Marble Plate” of white clear local marble

policed, finished and engraved.

6.1 Supply, Install and finish Pre-cast Terrazzo Tiles, with

Italian marble chipping # 6.

Price to include, bedding and jointing in cement and sand

mortar, pointing with white cement, required sand fill, and

on site grinding, polishing and cleaning.

7 CARPENTRY AND JOINERY WORKS

PREAMBLE.

Sizes of carpentry works given in the Bills of Quantities are

finished sizes and shall be as per Drawings.

Sizes of doors and other items mentioned in the Bills of

Quantities shall allow for tolerance to suit the structural

openings shown in the Drawings.

· Wooden doors and pair of doors shall be measured in

number for each structural opening, unless stated

otherwise in the Bills of Quantities.

· Wall protection wooden rubbing rails shall be measured

in linear meter.

Rates for carpentry and joinery work shall include :

a) Shop and coordinated drawings.

b) Frames, architrave, chalk holders and other holders and

20 cm. high “U” shape kick plates.

c) Allowance for plastering and tiling and the like.

d) Cutting and fitting around obstructions, Bedding and

painting.

e) Grounds, blocking and backings.

f) Plugging concrete, block work, and stone work , and

making good.

g) Ironmongery including cylindrical locks, handles,

stoppers, screws, temporary fixing, re-fixing, oiling and

adjusting.

h)The unit rate shall include cost of painting with oil paint,

and all the necessary preparatory works including priming,

putty, for the door panels and frames.

7.1 Supply and Fix Flush Panel Solid Core Doors 4.5 cm Thick

single or double sashes . with ( Frame ). (4.5*10) cm. Edge

strip banding of Hardwood ( Swedish ) , with 5 mm. thick

plywood veneer on both sides, door paneling to be of soft

wood 3.5*3.5 cm. each 2.5 cm. , frames of hardwood (

Swedish) width according to the wall thickness’ and

Allowance of 4 - 6 cm. thickness for plastering and tiling

purposes, emerged in wood preservative before erection

then embedded completely in sand - cement mortar and

completely anchored as per specification .

Architrave of Hardwood ( Swedish ) ( 7*2 )cm price to

include ironmongery, kick plates of stainless steel 20 cm

7.2 Supply & Install Bottom Wooden Kitchen Cabinet.

Cabinet's Top shall be of Local Marble, 30 mm. thick with

be of 18 mm. thick Blockwood (latte), covered with 0.9

mm. Thick Laminated Plastic Veneer on both faces.

Blackboard seen edges shall be framed with Hardwood (

Preamble.

Rates for metalwork shall include for :

Preparing shop drawings,

Drilling, counter sinking, screwing, bolting and riveting.

Aluminum windows and architrave.

Lugs, plugs, holdfasts and the like.

Gaskets, sashes, double weather strips and external and

internal silicon filling around frames.

tagging.

9 PAINTING WORKS

Preamble.

Painting and decorating to walls, ceilings and the like shall

Painting to other works shall be included in the related

Paints shall be supplied to site in sealed container, as

approved by the Engineer, and site mixing shall not be

permitted.

The Contractor rates shall include for supply of all

materials, workmanship, samples, primers , surface

preparation , protection of painted surfaces ,

application to all heights as required of works, repair of

all damaged surface at the contractor's expenses , and all

other requirements as stated in the Specifications . All

paints should be from DELUX or Equivalent.

9.1 Supply and paint Emulsion PVA-Based Paint, for interior

walls, of high quality, on one priming coat , two coats of

11.7 Air Conditioning Units:

11.7.1 Supply and Install of forward curve decorative type split

unit heat pump made by York (USA), Daikin (Japan), Carrier

(France) or Equally approved of the size 1 Ton. The unit

shall be a single coil with all parts such as copper valves,

washable flat filter, multi speed electric motor and room

thermostat with three speed switch (wall mounted),

distance remote controll. The rate includes drilling and

diggings needed, concrete works, copper pipes of proper

diametres with 9 mm insulation and 10 cm width plastic

wrap strips, all the required fittings internally and

externally, flexible pipe for drain water to be connected to

the PVC A/C drain pipe in wall, electrical control cable. All

done as per specifications and the approval of the

Engineer.

12 Electrical Works

Important Notes:

All materials and accessories that will be used shall be

according to the Approved Manufacturer List attached to

the electrical specifications (see attachment # 1)

12.1 Electrical Switchboards

a. Supply, install and connect the electrical switchboards to

the site, including all associated materials and labor, as

described in the technical specifications.

b. Cabinets with no access from the rear, made up of

transparent polycarbonate cells, or sheet-metal cabinets

with a 25% surplus space.

c. The switchboards are to be placed on the floor, in a niche

against the wall.

d. Main supply lines enter from the switchboard bottom, top

or side, while outgoing lines exit the switchboard from

both its bottom and top sides.

e. Price to include all structural elements required in order to

install the switchboard, including bus-bars, terminals,

wiring, bolts, clamps, etc. and for the equipment listed

below.

f. Prices for supply, installation and connection of various

accessories including all associated labor and materials

such as bus-bars, terminals, wiring reinforcements,

mounts, engraved "sandwich" type identification plates,

etc. including connection to mains supply - complete ready

for use.

g. Shop drawings shall submitted for approval to the

supervisior engineer.
