Starting with some basics of the ITER project, this presentation will explore the progress of the world’s largest nuclear collaboration, touch on the involvement of Australia in being the first country to sign a cooperation agreement to the international organisation, and the story of the development of a diagnostic born out of Australian Scientific intellect that has attracted interest in the media: https://www.ansto.gov.au/news/iter-update with Scientists from the Australia National University. Presenter: Ryan Beeby, Project Manager ANSTO Ryan trained as a Scientist and Engineer at Monash University and works for ANSTO at Lucas Heights as a Project Manager, responsible as part of a team to deliver new facilities and large capital programs. He specialises in automation technologies that allow these facilities to do what they do safely, securely and sustainably. He recently represented Australia at a secondment to ITER, the international nuclear fusion experiment being constructed in the south of France, where he completed the Conceptual I&C design for a novel plasma diagnostic in conjunction
