ITINERARY: 35 NIGHTS DARWIN TO DARWIN

SSDAY 18: MADANGExplore Madang on a tour of the Madang Haus Museum, the Coastwatchers monument, and Bil Bil Village - famous for it’s pottery. Divers may visit the great dive sites close by.

DAY 19: DREGERHAFENDregerhafen is known for Tami bowls and timber paddles. Visit Gingala for a high-spirited welcome, before touring the village. Enjoy snorkelling, diving, and kayaking in the peaceful lagoon.

DAY 20: FLY ISLANDS & MOROBEWater activities on the vibrant Biangatu Reef start our day, then we cruise the Mou River to explore the local village and lagoon.

DAY 21: BUNAWalk through the jungle to discover fascinating WWII history - see relics and visit the war museum at Sanananda.

DAY 22: TUFILocal guides will paddle us on outrigger canoes to their village in the rainforest. Be welcomed to rarely-visited Maclaren Harbour with dances, demonstrations and traditional crafts.

DAY 23: DOBU & FERGUSSON ISLANDSJoin a walk to Dei Dei Hot Springs, and share the mythical and spiritual tales of the springs. At Dobu Island, learn about the Kula Ring before a snorkel over the incredible Bubbling Springs Reef.

DAY 24: SEWA BAYCruise into beautiful Sewa Bay and be welcomed by Pwanapwana Primary school. See traditional war dances and share a morning tea of pineapple, coconut milk, and sugar bananas.

DAY 25: BONA BONA ISLANDAt these small islands, have the opportunity to relax and take in your surroundings: a wonderful reef & beach where we may enjoy diving, snorkelling, swimming, and birdwatching.

DAY 26: HALL SOUNDMany rivers run from the mountains into Hall Sound, with historic Yule Island providing shelter from the Coral Sea. Here, explore the sound and enjoy an enthusiastic Central Province welcome.

DAY 27: KEREMAExplore the Gulf Province capital, and enjoy cultural experiences.

DAY 28: AT SEA - TORRES STRAIT

DAY 29: MERAUKEVisit the Wasur National Park, the ‘Serengeti of Papua’. See Blue Marsh Lake, home to many birds, wallabies and cassowaries, and the giant ant nest formations known as Musamus.

DAY 30: AT SEA - ARAFURA SEA

DAY 31: AGATSAs we arrive, an armada of war-canoes surrounds us, rowed powerfully by Asmat warriors. The Asmat women greet us at Syuru village, then we are invited into the ‘Men’s House’ to experience sculptures in the renowned Asmat tradition.

DAY 32: AT SEA - ARAFURA SEA

DAY 33: TRITON BAYTriton Bay is a rarely visited paradise, with karst formations to rival Raja Ampat’s beauty. Multitudes of fish and coral reefs flourish in the tropical waters. Here, enjoy water activities or explore along the coast to sight pre-historic cliff carvings.

DAY 34: KEI ISLANDSRelax on the postcard beaches of Kei Island to reflect on your incredible journey.

DAY 35: AT SEA

DAY 36: ARRIVE DARWINArrive into Darwin at 10:30am to disembark at 12:00pm.

DAY 1: DEPART DARWINBoard your ship at 8:30am for a 10:00am departure. Meet and mingle with fellow guests as we cross the Arafura Sea.

DAY 2: AT SEA - ARAFURA SEAOur guest lecturers will provide an introduction to Indonesian culture. At sunset, attend the Captain’s Welcome Drinks.

DAY 3 & 4: BANDA ISLANDSAn armada of traditional long canoes known as Kora Kora provide an impressive escort into Banda. Explore the town, and later the ramparts of Fort Belgica provide the setting for our Bandanese Feast under the stars. The following day, snorkel over the reef that flourishes on Gunung Api’s historic lava flow.

DAY 5: SEBAKOR BAYVisit this remarkable bay, where waterfalls tumble directly into the ocean, and explore with diving, snorkelling, and kayaking.

DAY 6: ARGUNIFriendly locals greet us and display cultural attractions including dances, music, and handcrafts. With refreshments of fresh coconut in hand, tour the village with local guides. Then journey by zodiac to see the ancient ‘blood paintings’ at Roefroefoea.

DAY 7: MISOOLMisool is an unspoiled paradise with aquamarine waters fringed by towering karst cliffs and flourishing with coral and marine life. Swim in exquisite lagoons and explore the coast by kayak.

DAY 8: KOFIAUThe 43 islands of Kofiau offer a wealth of nature. At the village, witness traditional food preparation and join in the celebration of Buka Sasi! End the day with snorkelling and birdwatching.

DAY 9: WAYAG ISLANDThe jewel in the crown of Raja Ampat, picturesque gumdrop karsts are the backdrop for this paradise on earth and the underwater world is rightly famous. Discover it all with snorkelling, diving, and kayaking opportunities. For the hikers, a walk up Mt Pindito rewards with remarkable views.

DAY 10: AMSTERDAM ISLANDHere, the sandy underwater slopes loom with glorious wrecks of ships drowned during WWII, creating coral gardens for snorkelers and divers to explore. Leatherback turtles also nest here.

DAY 11: ROON ISLANDA Japanese Zero plane wreck provides a target for snorkellers and divers. Afterwards, visit Yende for music and dancing.

DAY 12 & 13: CENDERAWASIH BAY & KWATISOREWe spend two mornings searching for and swimming with the gentle whale sharks. Visit Kwatisore to shop at the markets and be entertained by the string band and ‘bird-of-paradise’ dance.

DAY 14: MAMBERAMO RIVERThe Mamberamo River is regarded as the Amazon of the East, home to remote tribes. This is a Expedition destination.

DAY 15: JAYAPURAVisit Asei Village at Sentani Lake and be greeted by enthusiastic costumed dancers. View and perhaps purchase paintings on bark for which Lake Sentani is famous.

DAY 16: WEWAKEnjoy a WWII history tour with local guides, which takes us to Wewak Hill Lookout, the ANZAC Memorial, Mission Hill, and also to see the local craft markets.

DAY 17: SEPIK RIVERAt first light we enter the mighty Sepik River to visit the remote villages of Bien or Kopar, known for their arts and crafts. This evening, cruise past the active Manam Motu volcano at sunset.
