DAILY DETAIL

Day 1, Sunday, 03 December 2017

All along the world renowned Kruger National Park’s western boundary are private game reserves which combine with the Kruger to create one of the world’s largest game reserves and a truly remarkable destination. These reserves offer excellent game viewing opportunities together with the advantages of smaller, hosted accommodation and game drives. A trip to the Kruger is an unforgettable and potentially life changing experience.

Your Itinerary

We meet and transfer to Cape Town International Airport for our flight to Hoedspruit.

Please note flights are not included in the cost and you would need to book your ticket on the daily flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit. Please be advised that seats on this flight are limited.

On arrival at Hoedspruit Airport, you will be met by your Ranger and transferred to Kapama for an exciting 3 Nights in the African bush.

Game Lodge arrival day On arrival at the lodge lunch is served before checking in to your room.

At around 3:30pm, everyone gathers for a decadent high tea, before heading out with your Ranger for the afternoon game drive through the reserve in open 4x4 safari vehicles. En route, you’ll stop for a sundowner drink and will have a chance to stretch your legs.

As darkness falls, the nocturnal animals of the bush come out. The skilled tracker will scan the landscape using a spotlight, which illuminates animals’ eyes. A variety of completely different species can be seen on the night drive back to the lodge.

Arrival is at the lodge is usually around 7pm, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying a sumptuous dinner.

Kapama Game Reserve is located in close proximity to Eastgate Airport with the lodge providing open vehicle transfers. Kapama's location in the central Lowveld region creates the perfect base from which to explore the numerous nearby attractions.

The northern Drakensberg mountain range provides a majestic backdrop to this contemporary private game lodge in the Greater Kruger National Park region. River lodge is situated within Kapama Game Reserve, and presents the perfect blend between luxurious accommodation and with 64 bedrooms, generous bed capacity.

Each of the spacious rooms features a full en-suite bathroom and enjoy uninterrupted views of this game rich, big 5, reserve. The central guest entertainment areas include a swimming pool, lounge, bar, library, curio shop, multifunctional function venue and boma. Meals are of a buffet style and offer a variety of freshly prepared pan African dishes.

Southern Camp, situated on the southern most section of the Kapama Private Game Reserve, and offers basic luxury accommodation in this informal, tranquil lodge accompanied by warm hospitality and friendly service in one of the best bush locations in the country.

Kapama Private Game Reserve spans 120 square kilometers of famed ‘Big 5’ – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino - territory offering guests a safari adventure with all the big game including 42 mammal species and over 350 bird species.

The reserve is perfectly situated to receive guests flying into Eastgate Airport (Hoedspruit). A quick 30 minute transfer to Southern Camp is all it takes before you can relax and absorb the quiet surroundings of the African bush. Driving from Johannesburg or Pretoria will take about 5 hours – but we will wait for you.

Day 2 & 3, Monday, 04 December 2017 – Tuesday, 05 December 2017

Daily Programme The day starts with an early wake-up call between 5am and 5:30am. Tea, coffee and rusks are enjoyed together before heading out at first light. Halfway through the game drive, there’s a stop for hot drinks and snacks, before returning to the lodge at around 9am for a full breakfast.

On the return to the lodge, a hearty breakfast is enjoyed in the lodge dining room. After breakfast take a nature walk with your Ranger, relax around the pool or enjoy a spa treatment or one of the many activities the lodge has on offer for your account.

Lunch is served at your leisure.

Throughout the day, it’s likely you will see wildlife around the lodge – nyala antelope and vervet monkeys are frequent visitors, though seeing some of the Big Five is also not uncommon.

In the late afternoon guests head out for the evening safari.

In between drives soak up the sun in the lodge pool or enjoy one of the many additonal activities the lodge has to offer. Additional activities not included

Day 4, Wednesday, 06 December 2017

Your Itinerary

Early wake-up call. Enjoy coffee, tea, fruit juices and biscuits that will be served on the deck.

Departure for an exciting safari adventure just as the sun rises. Along the way, rangers stop at a scenic setting and serve coffee and tea.

Guests return to the camp where a hearty breakfast awaits you. Check out after breakfast and depart for Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg.

On arrival in Johannesburg check in for your international flight home.

The price quoted is subject to change in the event of any unforeseen increases in fuel costs including currency fluctuations (relevant to aircraft or transfer services) and/or Government levies/taxes.

Services are quoted and invoiced out in different currencies depending on the currency of the underlying services. Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and countries north of South Africa are mainly quoted in US$ whilst South African and Namibian services are quoted and invoiced in South African Rand (ZAR) and Namibian $ (NAD) respectively.

If you have requested that we show the EUR or USD rate for the ZAR or NAD prices quoted, please be informed that this rate is quoted purely as a guideline and may not be accepted as a guaranteed rate. Terra Nova does not take any responsibility for a rate indicated as a guideline and assumed a guaranteed rate by the client.

Please be advised that the fare for scheduled flights quoted by Terra Nova are estimated. Fares are confirmed once payment has been made, and the flights booked and ticketed. Any flights booked with Terra Nova will incur a handling fee of 10% of the flight costs, which will be added to your itinerary costs.

PAYMENT TERMS

1. 20 % non refundable deposit on confirmation of booking.

2. 80 % Balance payable 60 days prior to arrival date.

PAYMEND METHODS

Payment may be made by EFT. An invoice will be sent to you, which will contain our bank details.

We accept payment by Master or Visa card. Should you wish to make payment by credit card a 4% surcharge will be added to your costs to cover the standard credit card charges. We unfortunately do not accept American Express or Diners.

PASSPORTS & VISAS

Visitors to Africa must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date, together with onward travel documents, proof of accommodation and sufficient funds for the duration of your stay. In addition, each country you may be visiting generally requires at least 2 consecutive/side by side blank pages on entry for both visas and stamps. Should your itinerary include more than one country, excluding the country of departure and return, please ensure that you have a sufficient number of blank visa pages (not endorsement pages) in your passport. Should there be insufficient blank pages in your passport then entry into a country could be denied.

Any applicable visas, costs and/or relevant documentation are your responsibility. Please verify with your travel agent or relevant consulate concerning visa entry requirements and, if extending your journey to other countries, visa entry requirements for those countries need to be established as well. Kindly ensure that you have all necessary visas prior to departure from your home country (unless these can be obtained on arrival) as Terra Nova, its staff, agents and operators cannot be held liable should entry be denied.

All passport holders should verify with their travel agent or relevant consulate concerning visa entry requirements. If you are extending your journey to other countries, please establish entry requirements for those countries as well. Applications, costs and relevant documentation are the responsibility of the traveller.

Botswana Travel Regulations – We have been advised that at this time, Botswana Immigration do not consider travelling on holiday an emergency and will therefore not grant entry to any guest travelling on an Emergency Travel Document. Please ensure your clients are advised accordingly so that they have the appropriate travel documentation before departing on their safari.

ACCOMMODATION CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT TIMES

Times may vary depending on the establishment but generally speaking for hotels, check-in is after 14h00 and check-out is either at 10h00 or 11h00. At most safari lodges and camps, the rooms need to be vacated by noon but this will be re-confirmed once in camp. Use of your room until such time as you are scheduled to depart for the airstrip/airport for onward transfers will be arranged where possible, bearing in mind this is subject to availability and therefore not guaranteed.

Please ensure that you are aware of our booking conditions. Taking this journey with us implies your acceptance of these conditions.

Prior to confirming the booking, each guest must take out comprehensive travel, medical, cancellation, curtailment and default insurance for the duration of their trip.

Due to the remote areas in which we operate, it is vital that all guests are covered for emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances. We will not be held responsible for any guest travelling without insurance.

The relevant cancellation policy applies should the guest fail to join or start their safari/journey for any reason, including airline delays or missed connections. Please ensure adequate travel insurance is in place for this eventuality.

The above itinerary may include camps/lodges that are situated in Malaria and Yellow Fever areas. Please consult a medical practitioner, pharmacist or travel clinic to establish what precautions and/or vaccinations will be required.
