What you are about to see is the result of four tough years in the Communication Design program at UNT. Sleepless nights and tears are at the core of this book. It was hard to get to this point but it sure feels nice! So go ahead, enjoy the pretty pictures.

Candylab makes wooden toys that are inspired by the glamorous aesthetics of mid-century muscle cars. Their goal is to make toys that are durable and that ignite the imagination of children. This project extends that idea by creating packaging that is visually stimulating and that also encourages kids to use their imagination to create their own stories.

This poster was created to represent the sentiment that the song “Madness” expresses. Madness is about the dynamics of relationships and how despite the fights and arguments, love is an irrational thing.The song (and Muse overall) has a very electronic, synthpop sound, and the music video uses a variety of neon and bright colors.

Chop Suey Books is a bookstore in Richmond, VA. The original location of the bookstore used to be a restaurant called George’s Chop Suey. Chop Suey was adopted for the bookstore as is an Americanization of “Za Sui” meaning a little bit of this, a little bit of that, perfect for the bookstore as it sells a combination of different art practices.

This project was inspired by one of my favorite things in the world, soccer. This series of cards show every player in the FC Barcelona squad along with stats for the 2015/2016 season and an overall rating to show how good each player is. The stats change depending on the position on the field of each of the players.

A branding and packaging project for Abarrotes Cinthia’s, a Mom & Pop store in Puerto Vallarta. This project highlights the best qualities of the business which are their homemade products, the personal touch given by the owners and the traditional setting. The pattern and logo are based off of Mexican embroidery patterns and clothing.

The Pickled Carrot is a Denton-based food truck that offers Vietnamese Cuisine, with their speciality being the Bahn Mi. It was founded by a former UNT student, and they are well known for their amability and customer service. This app is meant to reflect that as it aims to improve the customer’s experience with a colorful and friendly interface.

Starting ScreenThe three main sections of the app are presented. These will be available throughout the app at any time.

Pick OrderHere the user is presented with the main four meal and drink options offered by The Pickled Carrot. The Bahn Mi and Bowls are customizable. Also, at the bottom of the screen, the section the user is in is highlighted.

CheckoutUser can review their order. When the order is placed the user is given an order number that will be matched by the guys at the food truck in order to receive the food. The payment is made at the food truck.

CheckoutThe ‘Menu’ button allows the user to go back to the menu section to add another item to the order.

Bahn Mi and BowlBoth the bahn mi and bowl can be customized as the user pleases. The four bigger boxes at the top represent the four main ingredients, only one out of the four can be chosen.

ExtrasHere the user can choose to add more of one ingredient or combine two or more of them. The Paté option is added. Each extra ingredient will be added to the total price.

CheckoutThis screen is similiar to the one in the ‘Menu’ section. Here the order is reviewed, and the option to add more is given by clicking on the menu button at the top of the screen.

Find us!The map shows the address in which the food truck is located. This screen also shows the service times. ‘Get Directions’ redirects the user to their default maps app.

Pick Order (catering)This screen is very similar to the ‘Menu’ screen. The same process is used, the bahn mi can be customized, the only difference is that there is a minimum amount required of fifteen, all of which will be similar in their contents.

InformationFor catering services the user must provide basic contact information, as well as a location, date and time.

DrinksThis screen shows the variety of drinks offered. Once a drink is selected, the drop-down menu is enabled to pick how many are desired. More than one drink may be selected.

SidesSides are very similar to Drinks. Once a side is selected the drop-down is enabled. So far the only sides available are chips.

Humanoid Rights is an article that covers the futuristic scenario of human cloning, and whether those clones will have rights since they are just a copy of someone that already exists. These spreads attempt at delivering that story in a visually attractive way by combining modern treatments of type and color with medical illustrations.

Riverbed Technology is a company that focuses on improving and accelerating the transfer of information and data. Their main asset is Steelhead, which is a product that works by breaking down the data into bigger chunks and sending it all without the sender and receiver chatiness that happens in a regular network.

A family-owned business, Martindale Feed Mills has served the community since 1962. They’re known for being a traditional business, and the rebrand and stationary are meant to show a little bit of that through the use of a minimalistic treatment and a restrained palette. It is also a call back to western, and cowboy-like styles.
