What is Ivan’s history?
Born in RussiaBrought to
America at 2 years, 8 months
Raised in a foster orphanage from birth
Dec. 25th, 2007 (The day Dave & Karin brought him “home”)
Screamed himself to sleep his first night
Had a brother & a dog before he was in the U.S.
Started preschool at Eau Claire, WI then in Coon Rapids
Lived in his house 5 years
What is your dream for Ivan?
No one said anything about
school! Thor- He should be a race car driver.
Janna- Finds somebody that appreciates how awesome he is.
Karin- Do what he loves to do in life.
Dave- Lives out the faith he grows into
Ms. Hoff- Challenged, inspired & fulfilled
What is your nightmare?
Ivan- Lightning & Spongebob Karin- Passages (An center
for institutionalized children) Dave- Misunderstood- That
he’d be labeled and dismissed
Marcus- His friends would be in far away places
Both parents initial fear was that he’d be “taken or kidnapped.” Their primary fears were the same as a parent with a child without a disability.

than anyone I know. He’ll scream at a video game for ½ hour, but he won’t give up
