*The Ozan-Baksı and the Tekke poetry traditions as pioneer institutions of the minstrels. *Socio-cultural and generic continiuty among those literary traditions. *Emerge of the tradition around the coffe houses *15th-20th centuries minstrels such as Karacaoğlan, Köroğlu, Âşık Ömer, Gevheri, etc.

Objective of the Course (Learning Outcomes)

*The genres of Turkish folk narratives which are created by minstrels such as romances, epics, tales, stories *16th-20th centuries minstrels tales such as Aşık Garip, Köroğlu, Tahir and Zühre, Sürmeli Bey, Kurbani and Peri, Elif and Mahmut, Seyfülmülük Hikayeleri, Asuman and Zeycan, Kerem and Aslı etc. *The collected works of Turkish minstrel tale telling tradition in terms of their content, performance, function, structure, language and manner; briefly deals with one of the most important entertaining products of hictorical oral cultural contexts which were created in verse and prose.

Objective of the Course (Learning Outcomes)

General outlook to Turkish folk dance Studies on Turkish folk dances Basic concepts in folk dance, the approaches. The relation between folk dance and culture and the pioneer studies on dance folklore The meaning and the functions of folk dance within the socio-cultural contexts.

Objective of the Course (Learning Outcomes)

At the end of this course, the student who successsfully finishes the course is expected to list the general studies on Turkish folk dance; to define the basic concepts in Turkish folk dance, and to explain the relation between folk dance and culture; to introduce the pioneer studies in folk dance; and to research on the meaning and the function in folk dance in the frame of a dance event within the socio-cultural contexts.

Theoric knowledge will be analysed on the examples selected from written, visual and auditory media such as series, cinema, advertisement, cartoon, etc.

In this lesson, humor will be assessed in a wide perspective which is based on an infrastructure that has been created by scanning the theoretical studies of humor world literatures and their original sources and ranges from phallus songs that were sung and accepted as symbols of abundance, prosperity, and entertainments in the feasts of Ancient Greek to the usage of humor as a consumption object in the modern world of 21st century.

Objective of the Course (Learning Outcomes)

At the end of this lesson, studens will learn that while the humor is a mere entertainment tool in a superficial manner, it’s also fundamentally a serious phenomenon contains cognitive, intellectual, critical, social and emotional aspects and is located in the center of human life with its economic, political, social, and cultural dimensions that form a wide perspective.
