Happy New Year!
Manor Park, Inc., begins a year of celebrating 50 years of leading re-tirement living in the Permian Basin. To start off the celebrations, we hope you enjoy the “& This is Us 2020” calendar. It is a creative combi-nation of our history, our present, and our foresight into the future. As you start the New Year with FAITH, HAPPINESS, and HEALTH I want to tell you about one of the generous gifts Manor Park has received over the past 50 years: The Roy & Wanda Campbell Health Club. It all started back in 1998 when Mrs. Roy Campbell made a donation to start a special exercise program located in the Younger building. Very quickly it became a popular program. Research was be-ginning to tout the benefits of exercise for senior adults vitality and inde-pendence. As Manor Park grew, adding Independent Living homes and Assisted Living residences, more space was needed and other types of equipment desired. In 2001, Manor Park expanded its exercise program to a new location on the campus. This new location, thanks to a gener-ous gift from Roy & Wanda Campbell, was renovated into a vibrant, top of the line Health Club with all new Nautilus exercise equipment de-signed for seniors. This area quickly grew to become “the hub” of Manor Park. Over the years the Health Club, what is today referred to as the “Wellness Center,” has impacted many residents’ lives through 5 dimen-sions of wellness (physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual). In 2014, after many years plus 5 days a week use and a desire to keep the Wellness Center modern with state-of-the-art equipment, Roy & Wanda Campbell made possible the current Nautilus One machines and treadmills. We are very thankful for Roy & Wanda Campbell’s commitment to Manor Park offering the best in health and wellness to our residents. If you haven’t taken advantage of this fine amenity at Manor Park, stop in and visit with the Wellness Coordinator, Jennifer Natividad. It’s never too late to start!

Happy New Year! Every new year bring new chal-lenges in many different ways. Sometimes there are health challenges or challenges within our family relationships. Sometimes we see opportunities of service that we had not thought of before, or were not aware of, for whatever rea-son. There are a couple of possibilities of service here at Manor Park that I would like to pray and see if you might be the right person to fill a spot, or two. Are you a piano player and possibly interested in or willing to help with the music part of either the Sunday morning service in the Parks-Faudree Family Chapel, or the Bible Study time at Helen Greathouse Manor? The ladies who have been playing the pianos for these groups are not able to do continue doing this on a regular basis, at this point (Benita Birmingham – Parks Faudree Family Chapel service and Beverly Draper – HGM Bible Study). I am won-dering if any of you who are pianists would be willing to fill at least a temporary need and be willing to play at least once a month in one of these services? We may be able to fill out a rotating system for people who are willing to play for these services, but maybe not every week. If you are willing to consider this, I would like to invite you to meet with me and others who are willing to consider this as a ministry roll. Let’s meet on Monday, January 13, at 2:30 in the Parks-Faudree Family Chapel and see what we can fig-ure out together. You can also call me at my office (699-3404) and leave a message, if I am not in the office. Also, if you have led a church service, I would like you to consider leading one of our Sunday morning services at the Parks-Faudree Family Chapel. Ernie Showalter, who has led the fourth Sunday service this past year, feels he needs to step away from leading this service. I am looking for someone to lead this service once a month. Please call me if you are interested in taking on this ministry role (699-3404). There is a word of thanks to these three individuals, and others, who have volunteered to minister to our resi-dents in various ways over the years.
Blessings, Chaplain Bill Billett BCC
If I can help you in any way, as Chaplain, please call me (699-3404), leave a note on or under my
office door or send me a message by email to [email protected]

Cleaning with Vinegar
White vinegar – a product most of us store in our home is an excellent all-purpose cleaner, brightener and herb-icide. Whether you use it full strength or mixed with water, white vinegar can replace many pricier products huddled under your sink. Here are few tips you can try to see how vinegar can make your life cheaper and easier:
1. Freshen up the fridge by cleaning the shelves and walls with a solution of half water and half vinegar.
2. Brighten coffee cups and teacups by gently scrubbing stains with equal parts vinegar and salt (or baking soda).
3. Eliminate odors in plastic con-tainers by swabbing a cloth damp-ened with vinegar.
4. Kill bathroom germs by spraying full-strength vinegar around the sink and tub. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
5. Trying to save a garment with light scorch marks? Rub gently with vinegar and wipe with a lint-free clean cloth. By the way, this tech-nique also works on antiperspirant stains.
. . .
As winter weather approach-es, make sure you are very careful walking on the side-walks around your house and at the main buildings.
Located at the main entrances of the buildings, there will be an ice bucket with “ice melt” and scoop to be used if need-ed. Maintenance will assign
staff to be here at 5:00 am and 9:00 pm to make sure all parking and front entry walk ways are safe when ice is pre-sent.

Just a quick SAFETY note: Please manage the leftovers you bring home. Most leftovers have a short shelf life, and if consumed after that shelf life, they can make you sick. Our policy is 2 days from the day you brought it home. Example- if you brought it home the 1st you would discard it the 3rd, if you brought it home the 15th you would discard it on the 17th. As with anything this is not a guaran-tee but rather a safe bet.

Independent Living event sign-up sheets on clipboards…
The sign-up sheets for activities can be found on the two long wooden tables located in the Atrium. The clipboards are updated before the monthly Residents Meeting. Residents attend the Residents Meeting then sign up for next month’s events. If a ticket is required for an event, you must indicate if you have your own or NEED one for the event. Nicole will assist you with on-line ticket purchases.
