TRANSCRIPT
This book is derived out of several years of teaching a one-semester advanced undergraduate and postgraduate course on the subject by the authors at IIT Kharagpur. The course was designed to bridge a significant yet typical gap that exists in many electrical engineering curricula, namely that of exposure to control and automation technologies typically encountered in industrial environments. The book presents several new important topics such as New Control Architectures, Sequence Control, Industrial Actuators, etc. It will provide a valuable exposure to students on technologies that one is quite likely to encounter in one’s professional career in the core engineering sector.
Prof. Siddhartha Mukhopadhyay is currently Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering and in Steel Technology Centre at IIT Kharagpur. He is also the Professor-in-charge of the Centre for Railway Research (CRR) at IIT Kharagpur. His current research interests are in Estimation, Diagnostics and Control, Verification of Hybrid Systems, Behavioral Modeling and CAD of AMS circuits, Industrial Automation, Aerospace Control and Guidance and Tracking and Control of Switching Converter ICs. He has published more than 180 papers in national and international journals and conferences.
Prof. Siddhartha Sen is currently Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur and also the Coordinator for B.Tech program in Instrumentation Engineering. He has published more than 100 papers in national and international journals and conferences in the areas of Instrumentation and Control. His current research interests are in capacitive sensors, MEMS capacitive accelerometers, fractional order sensors and systems, control allocation and robust control.
Prof. Alok Kanti Deb is currently Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur. His present research interests are in Control Systems, Computational Intelligence and Automotive Diagnostics. He has published several papers, reviewed several journals and served in the Program Committee of several conferences.
