    J. Bcquer, Gustavo Adolfo biography Gustavo Adolfo Becquer was born in Seville on17 February, 1836. His father, don Jos Domnguez Bcquer, was costumbrist painter remarkable success, especially among English travellers of the time. When the future poet was five years old died his father and his mother, Mrs. Joaquina la Bastida and Vargas, when he was eleven. Young Bcquer studied at the colegio de San Telmo in condition poor but noble family. His uncle Joachim Domnguez Becquer, also important Sevillian painter, took the brothers.

    His literary education directed at the Seville Institute by Francisco Rodrguez Zapata, disciple of the great Alberto list illustrated was classical, with specialappreciation to the Spanish and Latin poets of the golden age: fray Luis de LenHerrera or Rioja.
