Meetings are at the Double Tree Hotel at 7 AM, Friday Mornings
J Curious Issue No. 11 – Sep 16
President Jennifer started the meeting with another Funny Video featuring Justin Timberlake in a beer bottle costume; quite appropriate for the Brewfest Theme of this Meeting. Guy lead us in a not so rousing rendition of “This Land is Our Land. We didn’t get on key until the end of the song. Dave Garese gave our invocation featuring various “Beer Quotes” from famous and not-so-famous people.
We had guests all the way from Alaska. Cori’s parents were here to partake in the Brewfest and lend morale support to their daughter who is the trusty Co-Chair of the event. The order of our meeting went a little different as Toney Sebra introduced our speaker Charlie Banforth, Professor at UC Davis.

Professor Banforth has been our annual Brewfest meeting guest speaker for the last few years. He is a very funny guy who could probably make a career as a stand-up comedian, if the professor gig didn’t work out. Toney listed Professor Banforth’s many credits including being featured in an article in Playboy Magazine (photos not included). He promoted his book,
“Beer is proof God loves us.” He also lead us through a PowerPoint presentation showing scientific graphs and photos showing how drinking beer can help you sidestep death. Professor Banforth shared some stories how certain brewers are in a competitive battle to see who can claim the beer with the highest alcoholic content. There is even a 60 proof beer that sells for over
three figures per bottle and the bottle comes stuffed in some furry animal, WHAT? This year he discussed how drinking beer makes you Flatulent. There was a comprehensive study done on 7 males which proved that men having smellier farts than women tabulated by a small pocket counter to keep track of the number of farts you emit daily, WHAT? The 17th Annual California Brewer’s Festival, what a great event for Point West Rotary. From my perspective it looked like everyone had a great time. My thanks to Toney Sebra and Cori Badgley for an outstanding effort.
My thanks to all of the Brewfest Committee members as well as all of the PWR members volunteers. The success of this event would not have been possible without your participation. Finally, many thanks to the brewers who attended the event. It would not be possible without their efforts.

Are you old enough to remember Hollywood Squares? By Anonymous
Hollywood Squares was a popular TV game show with celebrities occupying tic-tac-toe squares. If acquired a square if your agreement or disagreement with the celebrity turned out to be the correct answer to the question. Enjoy! Hollywood Squares – Long ago: These questions and answers are from the days when the "Hollywood Squares" game show responses were spontaneous and not scripted. Peter Marshall was the host asking the questions, of course. Q. Paul, what is a good reason for pounding meat? A. Paul Lynde: Loneliness! (The audience laughed so long and so
hard it took up almost 15 minutes of the show!) Q.Do female frogs croak? A. Paul Lynde: If you hold their little heads under water long enough. Q. If you're going to make a parachute jump, at least how high should you be A. Charley Weaver: Three days of steady drinking should do it. Q. True or False, a pea can last as long as 5,000 years? A. George Gobel: Boy, it sure seems that way sometimes. Q. You've been having trouble

going to sleep. Are you probably a man or a woman? A. Don Knotts: That's what's been keeping me awake. Q. According to Cosmopolitan, if you meet a stranger at a party and you think that he is attractive, is it okay to come out and ask him if he's married? A. Rose Marie: No wait until morning. Q. Which of your five senses tends to diminish, as you get older? A. Charley Weaver: My sense of decency. Q. In Hawaiian, does it take more than three words to say 'I Love You'? A. Vincent Price: No, you can say it with a pineapple and a twenty. Q. What are 'Do It,' 'I Can Help,' and 'I Can't Get Enough'? A. George Gobel: I don't know, but it's coming from the next apartment. Q. As you grow older, do you tend to gesture more or less with your hands while talking? A. Rose Marie: You ask me one more growing old question Peter, and I'll give you a gesture you'll never forget. Q. Paul, why do Hell's Angels wear leather? A. Paul Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles too easily. Q. Charley, you've just decided to grow strawberries. Are you
going to get any during the first year? A. Charley Weaver: Of course not, I'm too busy growing strawberries. Q. In bowling, what's a perfect score? A. Rose Marie: Ralph, the pin boy. Q. It is considered in bad taste to discuss two subjects at nudist camps. One is politics, what is the other? A. Paul Lynde: Tape measures. Q. During a tornado, are you safer in the bedroom or in the closet? A. Rose Marie: Unfortunately, Peter, I'm always safe in the bedroom. Q. Can boys join the Camp Fire Girls? A. Marty Allen: Only after lights out. Q. When you pat a dog on its head he will wag his tail. What will a goose do? A. Paul Lynde: Make him bark? Q. If you were pregnant for two years, what would you give birth to? A. Paul Lynde: Whatever it is, it would never be afraid of the dark. Q. According to Ann Landers, is there anything wrong with getting into the habit of kissing a lot of people? A. Charley Weaver: It got me out of the army.
Q. It is the most abused and neglected part of your body, what is it? A. Paul Lynde: Mine may be abused, but it certainly isn't
neglected. Q. Back in the old days, when Great Grandpa put horseradish on his head, what was he trying to do? A. George Gobel: Get it in his mouth. Q. Who stays pregnant for a longer period of time, your wife or your elephant?

A. Paul Lynde: Who told you about my elephant? Q. When a couple has a baby, who is responsible for its sex? A. Charley Weaver: I'll lend him the car, the rest is up to him Q. Jackie Gleason recently revealed that he firmly believes in them and has actually seen them on at least two occasions. What are they? A. Charley Weaver: His feet. Q. According to Ann Landers, what are two things you should never do in bed? A. Paul Lynde: Point and laugh. We don’t stop laughing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop laughing.
Just Last Week (Continued)
He mentioned that on a hot Sacramento day he would enjoy a Budweiser. The members were surprised –except Rick Bixler who was quite proud of his Bud! He said one of the best brewers in the area with the nicest facility is Sierra Nevada. He also told members to drink beer brewed close to where you live because it will be freshest! Past President Tom Knox came to the podium to share some embarrassing stories and photos of certain members in promoting this years Brewfest. Tom was Hilarious as usual. Lou reminded the club of the E-Waste drop off after the meeting. Russ Fujii mentioned that our Gold Group of Eagle Golfers did well at the Eagle Golf Tournament and he thanked all the members that contributed to the Eagle Golf coaching this season. Toney Sebra made a last minute plea to members to sign up for and help with take-down and clean-up at tomorrows Brewfest. We were blessed with Past-President Drew Houghton and new member Dan Stouder doing their 2x2 presentation. Something about Drew
being a gifted child, a graduate of party central, I mean Chico State. Drew is also affectionately known as “Dickhead” by Kings announcer Jerry Reynolds. Then the “kid” was introduced. Dan was born in 1978 in Wyoming. Most of our club members had probably graduated from college about the time Dan Stouder came into this world. Drew reported that Dan an his Parents were forced to move from town to town as Dan was kicked out of most schools because he was “hideously homely” or otherwise labeled as one “ Scary Ugly Child”. I think Drew was pulling our leg about this, Dan isn’t that Ugly! Dan met his future wife on his first day of law school and now they have three young kids ages 5,3,and 1 ½. By the way , Dan’s kids all seem quite attractive. Dan’s first and current Law job is with former Point West member John Digusto’s law firm.
