A sudden gloom, like in a tomb, the sunlit air transcended.
Jill coughed and fell, Jack cursed demons’ hell!Why hadn’t Death but waited?
His own true love, so like a doveWas now in Heaven, gated.
Jack swung the pail into his frailCrown—it broke asunder!
He now knew that Death came true,Jack’s laughter was
Hell’s plunder.
