he software works similar to the MS Word spellcheck tool and has a database of 69,000 Hindi words.The software is a result of three years of dedicated work by Jagdeep Singh Dangi, Associate Professor
at the Centre for Technology Studies, School of Language, Mahatma Gandhi International University inWardha, Maharashtra. Unicodebased Devanagari Hindi spellcheck software called Saksham is compatiblewith any Unicodecompliant Windows operating system can work with Microsoft Word also. It was launchedon Oct 29, 2013 at Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University.
Jagdeep Singh Dangi has earlier worked on a multilingual project ‘Bhasha Setu’ that encompasses thefollowing features:
Hindi Internet Browser (ibrowser++) with click for Hindi Translation.
Dictionary cum thesaurus (English to Hindi and viceversa) – Shabdkosh
Global Word Translator (English to Hindi) – Anuvaadak. It works both online and offline.
Jagdeep Singh Dangi has a vision to empower the people at the grassroots with the benefits of technologyand online information. His name was included in the Limca Book of Records for the Hindi language browser.Such initiatives are a great boon in bridging the language barriers and digital divide.
