The journey of this wonderful car began in 1922, when William Walmsley and Sir William Lyons established a company of Swallow Sidecar. The company originally made sidecars for motorcycles before graduating into car manufacturing. Headquartered at Whitley in Coventry in the UK, the company was named Jaguar after the Second World War. The company changed hands many times before finally coming under the ownership of Tata Motors, which is the automotive division of the Indian conglomerate, Tata Group. The company is now headed by Cyrus Mistry as Chairman and Dr Ralf Speth is the CEO. Other key persons in the management include Ian Callum, who is the Jaguar Design Director and Phil Popham, who is the Marketing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Group .

The Jaguar has carved a niche for itself in the luxury car segment all over the world. The name itself inspires ambition and finesse in the minds of people. The list of people who own the Jaguar car is truly illustrious. Jaguar cars are used by the British Premier as well. The Jaguar has manufactured a car exclusively for the British PM as recently as 2010. Moreover, the company holds royal warrants from none other than Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles.

At present, the Jaguar cars are designed at the Jaguar Land Rover’s engineering centres – one each at the Whitley plant in Coventry and Gaydon in Warwickshire. The manufacturing is undertaken at the Castle Bromwich assembly plant in Birmingham as well as the Solihull plant.

Known for their absolute opulence, the current fleet of Jaguar includes cars like F-Type convertible, XF mid size executive car, XJ luxury saloon and the XK luxury grand tourer. The R-type cars include Jaguar XKR-S, Jaguar XFR, Jaguar XKR coupé and cabriolet, Jaguar XFR-S, Jaguar XKR-S coupé and cabriolet and XJR.

Apart from these, Jaguar will also be introducing a crossover. In 2013, Jaguar announced the C-X17 concept, which is awaited eagerly. Another car from the super luxury carmaker could be the four-door saloon named XE, which was announced recently, and expected to go on sale in 2015. These cars will also be looked upon reverentially by car-lovers is for sure.
