Jaguar Journal December 7, 2017 DuJardin School - Home of the World’s Greatest Students Monday Morning Announcements at DuJardin Principal’s Post... Winter has quickly made its way to Bloomingdale and as a reminder to both parents and students, line up outside before school and outdoor recess will take place when the air temperature including any “wind chill” is at 10 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Please make sure your child is dressed properly for the winter weather. Students may participate in “winter rules,” which means playing in the snow piles during recess only if they are properly dressed in their winter gear, which includes a winter jacket, snow pants, hat, gloves and boots. It is school policy that if a student is healthy enough to attend school this student is healthy enough to go out for recess. A doctor’s note is needed in order for a student to stay in at recess. As a reminder Bloomingdale School District 13 uses an emergency phone broadcast system and notification service throughout our school community. This service is called Connect-ED and enables us to communicate with parents about emergency situations including any significant weather event and the need to cancel school for the day. Emergency school closing information can be sent to your family's home, work, or cell phones. We will be able to reach everyone in the district within minutes. * When a call comes from the school (or district), your caller ID will display the school (or district) phone number. * When listening to a message, please be aware that background noise on your answering machine could cause the system to stop and start. The system is carefully calibrated to determine whether a person or voicemail has been reached, and background noise may affect the delivery. If possible, move to a quiet area to hear the message. * Additionally, it is important that DuJardin has all of your current telephone numbers so that you will not miss out on any important communications. Please be aware that the Connect-ED service cannot dial or call an extension, so be sure we have a direct line where you can be reached to get this important information. Students in first through fifth grades will be finishing up the second round of MAP assessments before the winter break. Kindergarten students will take the MAP assessment again in April to evaluate progress. Students are given MAP tests to determine their instructional level and to measure academic progress and growth throughout the school year. This growth is also measured from year to year in the subjects of reading and mathematics. DuJardin School recently received an Educational Alliance Grant from Exxon Mobil for $500 to purchase science and math supplies. This grant was presented to Miss Fenn’s third grade math class by Bucky’s Mobil employee, Lori Moore. This grant money will be used to purchase math and science materials as well as to offer scholarships to students for after school programs like Mad Science. Thank you to Buchanan Energy, Bucky’s Mobil in Bolingbrook, IL and Exxon Mobil for this generous gift.

DuJardin School - Home of the World’s Greatest Students

Monday Morning Announcements at DuJardin

Principal’s Post...

Winter has quickly made its way to Bloomingdale and as a reminder to both parents and students, line up outside before school and

outdoor recess will take place when the air temperature including any “wind chill” is at 10 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Please make

sure your child is dressed properly for the winter weather. Students may participate in “winter rules,” which means playing in the

snow piles during recess only if they are properly dressed in their winter gear, which includes a winter jacket, snow pants, hat, gloves

and boots. It is school policy that if a student is healthy enough to attend school this student is healthy enough to go out for recess.

A doctor’s note is needed in order for a student to stay in at recess.

As a reminder Bloomingdale School District 13 uses an emergency phone broadcast system and notification service throughout our

school community. This service is called Connect-ED and enables us to communicate with parents about emergency situations

including any significant weather event and the need to cancel school for the day. Emergency school closing information can be sent

to your family's home, work, or cell phones. We will be able to reach everyone in the district within minutes.

* When a call comes from the school (or district), your caller ID will display the school (or district) phone number.

* When listening to a message, please be aware that background noise on your answering machine could cause the system to

stop and start. The system is carefully calibrated to determine whether a person or voicemail has been reached, and background

noise may affect the delivery. If possible, move to a quiet area to hear the message.

* Additionally, it is important that DuJardin has all of your current telephone numbers so that you will not miss out on any

important communications. Please be aware that the Connect-ED service cannot dial or call an extension, so be sure we have a direct

line where you can be reached to get this important information.

Students in first through fifth grades will be finishing up the second round of MAP assessments before the winter break. Kindergarten

students will take the MAP assessment again in April to evaluate progress. Students are given MAP tests to determine their

instructional level and to measure academic progress and growth throughout the school year. This growth is also measured from

year to year in the subjects of reading and mathematics.

Thank you to Buchanan Energy,

Bucky’s Mobil in Bolingbrook, IL and Exxon Mobil for this generous gift.
