MAJOR ACTIVITIES – A GLIMPSE
Kisau Power Corporation has been constituted. It will be headed initially by the Chief
Secretary of Uttarakhand for two years and then the chair will pass on to the Chief Secretary
of Himachal Pradesh. The post of the Managing Director of the corporation will be held by
the MD of UJVN ltd.
Five dams namely Icchhari, Maneri Bhali, Asan, Cheela and Daakpathar will undergo safety
and maintenance works to reduce any human or nature induced risk. The decision was taken
at the seminar on dam safety at IIT Roorkee. An aid of 200 crore rupees will be given by
World Bank and the program will be technically supported by Japan Water Agency.
UJVN Ltd has applied for coal and gas allocation for the planned thermal power plant at
Haridwar and Kashipur of 1000 MW each.
UJVN Ltd and Central Electricity Power Corporation (CEPC) organized a public awareness
program under dam rehabilitation and improvement project-DRIP at UJVNL’s Cheela and
Veerbhadra barrage for the local resident. They were informed about the safety provisions and
rescue operations in the case of emergency. A cleanliness drive was also organized.
A closure has been given by UP irrigation department for the repair and maintenance of
Kalagarh dam and power house.
UJVN Ltd has engaged M/S Accenture solutions for providing ERP (Enterprise Resource
Planning) system for the corporation. This will facilitate transparency to the working and will
make the work hassle free. A huge reduction in the paper work is also expected.
Maneri Bhali Power Plant has recorded production of 89.78 million units which is a record in
itself. The previous highest production was 78.72 million units which lies shattered this year.
A similar surge in the production was seen in many power plants like Pathri which also
produces 11.31 million units of electricity in the month of April 2017.
Pathri Power Plant located in the Upper Ganga Canal produced 20.40 MW in the month of
May 2017, the highest ever monthly generation since its conception. Similar record was also
broken by Mohammadpur Power Plant which produced 5.20 MW during May,2017.

Assistant Engineer (T) (Electrical &Mechanical) Induction Program at
UJJWAL held from 04th
to 14th
February, 2017
An induction program was organized at the UJJWAL for the newly recruited Assistant
Engineers (T) (E&M). A total of 49 candidates participated in it and the program lasted for
11 days. The trainees were acquainted with the general rules, regulations and objectives of
the corporation and were also made to get familiarized with the technical expertise required
to execute their duties efficiently.
A month long training for them is under process at PMI, Noida.

Assistant Engineer (T) (Civil) Training Program at IIT, Roorkee held from
07th
March to 14th
April, 2017
An external training was organized for the newly recruited Assistant Engineers (T) (Civil) at
the Continuous Education Centre, IIT Roorkee campus which lasted for 6 weeks. It included
3 weeks of rigorous technical training and 3 weeks of non technical (Finance, Contract
Management, etc) and behavioral training. Eminent faculties from prestigious institutions
like National Institute of Hydrology and Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee
were invited for taking lecture sessions. Experts and various retired engineers with rich
experience in the field of hydrology and dam construction shared their experiences with the
participants and made them aware of the challenges and difficulties of the dam construction
business.
To have a practical insight into the work that corporation performs the trainees were also
taken for a day long site visit which included Vyaasi dam (under construction) and
Hathiyaari Power House (under construction).

Assistant Engineer (T) (Civil) visit of Lakhwar Vyaasi Project
A day long field visit was also organized at Bahadrabad Research Station currently under the
aegis of Irrigation Department, Uttarakhand and Pathri Power House. The trainees got
familiarized with the various models of India’s major hydro power project which helped in
the final evaluation of the performance of these projects.

Training Program Of Assistant Engineers(E&M) At Power Management
Institute, Noida
A MoU was signed between Power Management Institute, Noida and UJVN Ltd. for the
training program of newly recruited Assistant Engineers (E&M) on 30, May 2017. The 48
trainees will undergo a rigorous training program of 5 weeks in the field of “Hydropower
Operation, Maintenance, Development and Management”.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. A C Joshi, Director (HR) which was held in
the campus of PMI at Noida.

Junior Engineer (T) Training at Dhakrani, Training centre
As a part of technical training, two training programs were organized at Dhakrani training
center in April on, ‘CT, PT, Power Transformer and Breaker’ and ‘Shift-Operation &
Management’. A total of 26 participants participated in the first program while the
attendance in the second part was 37. They got acquainted with the technical knowhow and
developed expertise in the respective areas.

Other Training Programs And Welfare Events
Various In-house and External training programs were conducted for executives as well as
officers during the period of February-May 2017. It included health care programs and
programs related to emergency response too.
ISTD Training Program at UJJWAL
Indian Society for Training &Development organized a presentation session on
“Communication Skills and Belongingness towards Organization” on 10th
April 2017 for the
various officers of the nigam. Director (HR) Dr. A C Joshi and Executive Director Shri S K
Chopra graced the occasion.
Nadi Parikshan Shivir at Ujjwal & Yamuna Bhawan
To keep up with the rise of health problems diagnosis, a camp of Nadi Prikshan, the ancient
art of diagnosis through pulse investigation was organized at UJJWAL and Yamuna Bhawan
on 16th
March 2017. Various officers were invited and got themselves duly checked and
investigated for health abnormalities.

First Responder Training at Kalagarh
To make people aware of the various emergency situations and to make them aware of the
responses required to tackle them effectively, a training session was organized at Kalagarh
on 25th
March 2017 in association with GVK EMRI that runs emergency ambulance service
108 in the state.
Hepatitis B Vaccination at Yamuna Bhawan
To make people aware of the increasing menace of hepatitis B and its effects, a camp was
organized at the Yamuna Bhawan. It is serious liver infection disease that can be easily
prevented by vaccination. As such vaccinations were also provided for the prevention of the
disease at this camp.

Trade Union Training Program at Baroda, Gujarat
A 2 day learning workshop was organized for trade union human assets on “Business
challenges & Role of Trade Union Leaders” during 24-25th
March 2017 by Baroda
Productivity Council. There was a meaningful and active participation from the participants.
Women Sports Prize Distribution
With the rise in the demand of gender parity in all the spheres of human development,
women empowerment is the need of the hour. In this context various sports activities were
organized for women employees during the financial year 2016-17 and the achievers were
facilitated on the eve of the International Women’s Day (8th
March, 2017). Managing
Director Shri S. N. Verma and various other senior dignitaries graced the occasion with their
benign presence.

Farewell ceremony of Shri Suresh Kumar Chopra, Executive Director (HR)
Shri S K Chopra, a person known for his exemplary professional skills as well as for his
altrusitic personality retired from the post of Executive Director (HR) after providing his
services to UJVN Ltd for 12 years. His gracious career is marked with a number of
acheivments including a remarkable number of impartial and unbiased recruitments.
The farewell ceremony was graced by Shri S N Verma, Managing Director UJVN Ltd. and
various other directors and dignitaries of the UJVN family.His family memebers including
his wife, son and sister were also present there. On the eve of the excellent first innings of
professional life, UJVN Ltd family wishes him a very healthy and prosperous retired life.

states where the projects under DRIP schemes
are being implemented and they were
considered for the review by the Central
Water Commission and World Bank for the
award. The completion of construction and
rehabilitation work of Aasan Barrage under
targeted time with high quality standards
proved to be a decisive factor. GM Shri S C
Balooni and DGM Shri Sanjeev Lohani
received the award on the behalf of Nigam.
