By using the large filbert brush, I have been able to keep a nice fast pace to the application of the paint. Infact, must of the first layer of yellow is still a bit wet. This allows me to do some blending right there on the
surface of the miniature.

In this image, you will see that some magenta fluorescent was used. I mixed this with some GW blazingorange. While this was still very 'high chroma' due to the fluorescent pigments, the GW orange dulls it down
slightly. The idea is to continue the glow, but set up the subsequent layers of much darker colors.

These first layers of color have now set up the next stage quite nicely. In this next phase, we will beapplying further layers of dark colors, which are also progressively cooler. Obviously, the cooler we can
make those final layers, the hotter our 'hot' colors will be!
Stay tuned, and be sure to check out that campaign. It is Rothand Studios!

What type of fluorescent paints are you using? This would look really cool on an Eldar avatar.

About Me
At this point, I start to mix in a seafoam green color with some black in order to get a cool grey. Iconcentrate most of the lightest lights on the base, the fingers, and the shoulders.

These lava WIPS are awesome. Seeing you break it down makes it so much easier to understand how itworks. What would be you biggest tip for people looking to learn NMM and how would you break that down?

I think that I have a few different NMM breakdowns scattered around the blog. The most importantthings to consider is what the metal is reflecting, and having the right contrast.
I have a Medieval armor book that I use as reference all the time.
When you paint the metals, be sure to reflect sky colors on surfaces facing up, and the ground aswell, which means more browns, etc.
Also, keep in mind that the metal might also reflect robes or other clothing the character might bewearing!

Many thanks! Ironically, my wife painted a Balrog years ago with this same principle in mind... therewere no fluorescent paints back then, of course :-)
