Lackland Elementary and Stacey Jr/SR High School
Conduct Annual Health Fair
Stressing the importance of being healthy, both the elementary
and secondary campuses conducted their annual health fair during
the afternoon on Friday, January 20th . This event focuses on a
variety of topics each year and changes based on important issues
that our students encounter.
The elementary school’s topics included: Choices and
Consequences presented by counselor Mrs. Kimberli Johnson,
Bullying presented by counselor Mrs. Laura Everest, Public Health,
and Wacky Olympics. Some of the classes were conducted in a
classroom type setting and others such as Wacky Olympics took place
in the gym and required students to move and work together.
The secondary school also focused on bullying, which is a major
problem in today’s schools. Mrs. Duron and Mrs. Jackson facilitated
a session on nutrition utilizing responders to keep students engaged
in the lesson. In the gym, Mr. Jeff Smith and his staff facilitated a
session of wacky Olympics which tested student’s coordination and
team building skills.
Special thanks to all of our presenters who took the time to
facilitate our Annual Health Fair.

Ms. Motz’s second grade class visited The San Antonio Museum of Art this
week. Students toured the China-Jade Exhibit. Afterwards, they made
“jade dragons” out of green paper and oil pastels. Students said that they
learned some neat things about Jade. Did you know that it takes years to
carve even a simple object out of jade?
Yearbooks on sale in the elementary office

Also, you may submit a “Love Line” to your child to be printed in the yearbook.

class! They look like they
are hard at work practicing
their vocabulary words.
Way to cooperate!
Proud Artists A few of the sixth graders showing off their ceramic creations. The entire grade level did this hands on
project by developing an armature that would support their clay and give it a distinct shape. Beautiful glazes
were applied to the projects and fired in our kiln. A terrific job was done by all!
