Breathe Brick is a masonry system that filters polluted outdoor air so that it be-comes healthy enough to bring directly into occu-pied spaces . It is based on the principle of cyclonic technology, in which physi-cal particles are removed from a fluid via vortex

separation .

Breathe Brick does not require any energy to op-erate, as it works with pressure and temperature differentials. It is devel-oped by California Poly-technic State University architecture professor Car-

men Trudell, to form a part of a building in regular ven-tilation system with a double layer facade of the con-crete brick on outside. At the centre of cyclone filtra-tion system, an idea bor-rowed from a modern vacu-um cleaner which separates out heavy polluted particles from air and drop them into a removable hopper in the base of wall . The clean air can be delivered back through a mechanical equip-

ment.

It is reported that breathe brick system removes 30% of fine particles and 100%

coarse particles and hence makes the air in the room healthier. Breathe Brick provides an efficient way to lower the pollution level in developing countries, where rapid expansion of industr ies and less strengthen environmental regulations often cause

problem .

College makes initiative to make e-learning accessible for all

BIT-D has recently introduced various e-learning platforms to help students continue their studies and discover new technolo-

gies during the lockdown.

COURSERA: Our college has tied up with the e-learning plat-form Coursera to offer free certificate courses on engineering and management from various prestigious colleges around the

world.

EDX: EDX has also stepped forward to help students learn dur-ing the pandemic. EDX is offering free access to more than 800

courses via unique enrolment code for each course.

Online Classes: BIT Durg has started online classes from April 1, keeping in view the disrupted academic calendar due to the ongoing pandemic. The college has facilitated online classes through Zoom App, YouTube, Google Meet App, forming
