10 * a TH1E TmLAtmLTKlA TNQUtRBR, SUNDAY MORNING, BECEMBfCK SI. 1WS Jane Wister's Letter <|t • < f Continued from the preceding page hers a simple model with little trimming. Louise Bodlne Wallace, who was the honor guest at a dinner given by Mrs. James Large before the ball, was attired In white crepe Her accessories Included a cunning red bag and her slippers were of silver. So I could go on Indefinitely, If I attempted to tell you all the ravishlngly pretty dress- es I saw that night P ARTIHB are in order for the January brides, among them Mary- Helen Warden, who appears to be having almost more than her share. Thi.s daughter of Mr and Mrs. Clarence A. Warden ha* chosen a iralaxv of beauty to accompany her to the altar when she becomes the bide of Dr Erich F. Schmidt on the sixteenth of next month Her sister-in-law. Mrs Clarence A. Warden, Jr., the former Kutharine Chase, will head the procession, aa matron of honor, with Adele Warden following as maid of honor. The brides- maids- will include several out-of-town girls, among them Martha Humphrey, from your gay city; Mrs George Poole, Jr. and Mrs. Louis Sudler o' Chicago; Mrs. Walter Hall and Mrs. Warren Corning, of Cleveland, and Mrs. Lauience Lombard, of Boston, along with Louise Catherwood. the versatile Mary Binney Montgomery and Mrs. Rob- ert Massey. Jr., horn our own ranks of favorites. Upon Horace H F. Jayne, whose wife Is the former Henrietta Bache, have fallen the duties of best man, while the ushers are to be Charles Bache, his brother-in-law; Clarence A. Warden, Jr., the bnde's brother, and Merklee Beitler, all from here; Warren Corning, of Cleveland, and Dr James Murphy and Dr Julius Oeobel, neigh- bors of yours. A reception at 'Faraway Farm.'' the Warden home at Haverford. will follow the ceremony Josephine Fraley is giving a party, in the form of a dinner, for the happy pair next Tuesday night, and I've heard of ever so many more, but upon my word, my head is so full of recollections of this week's happenings I cannot recall one of them. W E'VE had a number of informal parties for out-of-town holiday guests. The T. F. Dixon Wainwrights, whose artistic home in the fashionable Owynedd Valley section Is the scene of one •mart gathering after another, have had with them for several days the former Peggy Patton and her husband, William W. Barbour, Jr., whose home is in Southborough. The young Peter Paines, who since their marriage have been listed in your little book of who's who, are here for the holidays, stay- ing, if I am not mistaken, with Ellen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Lea, in Chestnut Hill. Isabelle Perrin, Mrs. Edward Troth's daughter, is entertaining Anne Stobie, one of your young friends, and, of course, several more of your acquaintances were here early in the week for the Hasbrouck party. N EW YEAR'S celebrations cover a span of no less than three evenings, the hotels taking advantage of New Year's Eve fall- Jjfg on Sunday, by celebrating tonight. Then Mrs. John Dor- rancrs party, or rather the one which she and Charlotte are giving together for Peggy, virtually monopolizes tomorrow night, and Mon- day's calendar already is crowded with listings for receptions of all kinds, Including the ever-popular open house, egg-nog parties, teas, •uppers and even the most formal of dinners. You've heard, of course, that the Frederick Schaeffers' at home, which was to have been held at their Twenty-second street town house, is 'called off because of mourning. But Just In case you're motoring down Phoenixville way, Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Oilkyson and Grace will have open house tomorrow night. You needn't feel •lighted at not having heard about it before this, as they have sent out no cards. The Granville Worrells will receive their friends at "Dunmovln," their Ardmore abode, from four until seven o'clock on Monday. The Edward Dales have sent out invitations for their at home on the ssme afternoon, to be held after four o'clock. The Benjamin Rushs have planned a breakfast as their greeting to the New Year, and I think I've already told you of other events which were planned long In advance of these.. So you see we've a busy week-end ahead. Adieu, my dear, and my sincere wish Is that the incoming year, with many more, will be filled with happiness for you and those you hold dear. Fondly, Norton D. N EW YEAR'S celebrations cover a span of no less than three evenings, the hotels taking advantage of New Year's Eve fall-

Jjfg on Sunday, by celebrating tonight.
