The concentric housing is 35% thicker for extra strength and

extended service life and reduces the radial load of the bearings.

Open-vaned impeller is designed to reduce turbulence, eliminate

recirculation, lower radial and thrust load, and provide a smooth

flow of fluids.

The larger diameter shaft gives heavy-duty performance with minimum shaft deflection. Heavy-

duty outboard bearing assembly consists of a pair of angular contact bearings with high thrust

load rating and zero end play. The heavy-duty inboard bearing is a double row ball-bearing with

high radial load rating to compensate for the larger size impeller and heavy-duty applications.

The oil bath lubrication system is designed with a larger oil reservoir, which provides free

circulation of oil and better heat dissipation for longer bearing life.

TTTU vacuum systems are distinguished by their compact footprint, mobility and

industrial strength. The 2000 Series system is diesel powered and mounted on a skid

package.

TTTU’s vacuum systems use industry standard size motors and pumps, yet an innovative

filtration system affords industrial power compressed into a fraction of the system

footprint - Powerful and Compact!

This new innovation has also made the process safer and the operation easier, bringing it

into the customer environment and removing the necessity for licensed third party

intervention.

Safety was an important factor in the design of the new system. TTTU systems eliminate

personnel exposure and reduce operator risk due to the lesser CFM rate.

The TTTU high performance vacuum system can be utilized where restricted space is

available for maneuvering of industrial vacuum tankers. Triton's portable high

performance vacuum systems reduce operations costs and reduce the timeframes of

downtime operations where vacuum services are required.

10.0 Tank Cleaning/ Confined Space Entry Works

Tank cleaning by its very nature, is an operation that poses serious risks to human health.

This is due oftentimes attributed to the type of vessel to be cleaned, the nature of the

material previously stored in the vessel and the methodology employed.

Risks to human health include suffocation, poisoning, sprained or fractured body parts,

dehydration / heat stroke and fires and explosions. Tiger Tanks employs a methodology

that mitigates against all of the above impacts.

Prior to even embarking on a job, TTTU ensures that all the requisite equipment checks

are performed to minimize accidents due to equipment failure. In addition, we ensure

that all our personnel receive the appropriate health and safety training and understand

the safe operating procedures governing the execution of the job.

TTTU provides the requisite emergency response and safety equipment based on the

nature of the job. Manning this equipment is the TTTU On-site Safety Officer.

The methodology used by Tiger Tanks for the removal of liquids and sludge, involves the

use of pressurized water to remove any solids or semi solids from the walls and floor of

the tank. Then, using a 100 HP wet vacuum system; the material is removed and

transferred via hoses to an appropriate storage unit (e.g. vacuum tank, cuttings box).

Page 49: January 12, 2003 - Tiger Tanks Trinidadtigertankstrinidad.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/TTTU.-Equipmen… · 1:2006/ DNV2.7-1: 2006 in support of IMO 860 [1998]./SEPCo OPS0055/API

January 2015 Page 49

The use of the hoses minimizes the likelihood of spills from the operation. In the event

of any spills, TTTU has the capability to provide twenty four (24) hour Oil Spill Response

Services to the energy industry. In the instance where the material to be removed is dry

solid, a dry vacuum system is used.

The TTTU methodology is less labor-intensive than simply using a bucket and shovels

and does not employ the use of hazardous chemicals. The operation is always closely

monitored by a TTTU Supervisor.

As a result of health and safety concerns as well as regulatory obligations, as stated in the

OSH Act 2004 (Amendment 2006) and industry best practices for confined space entry,

outlined in OSHA 1910.146 Subpart J, it has become necessary for the deployment of a

certified Rescue Team during tank cleaning operations. This includes provision of the

following:

1. Two (2) – person confined space standby rescue team

2. Confined space rescue kit, which includes the primary access line, a belay/

retrieval system and gear for the rescue team. The kit contains a rescue pulley for

a 4:1 lowering and raising system the SKED Tripod for the overhead anchor point.

11.0 Cooling Tower Cleaning/ Dewatering

The emergence of the Petro Chemical industry and the associated cooling towers has spawned

the need for cooling tower cleaning and maintenance.

The current practice is to pump out the free water, after which the concentrated sludge/slurry is

removed/transferred using vacuum tankers into to storage boxes for transport to the designated

disposal site.

This process is slow and tedious and requires that the cooling tower be pumped out and shut

down to facilitate the operation.

While Tiger Tanks Trinidad Unlimited maintains a comprehensive stock of the equipment and

the in house technical and support staff to execute such projects, we are in the process of

procuring the necessary equipment to execute In situ cooling tower cleaning, i.e. during the

normal operation of the cooling towers.

The process encompasses the use of vacuum tankers, pumps, storage tanks, dewatering tanks (see

below) and polishing filters.

The basic concept of the operation is to extricate the sludge from the bottom of the basin. The

sludge will then be fed into a vacuum assisted dewatering tank consisting of a stainless steel

retainer support screen topped with filter fabric with the desired opening size (< 100 microns).

All particles greater than 100 microns would be retained in the dewatering tank while the filtrate

from this process would be pumped through a polishing (< 60 microns) before re-entering the

cooling tower basin.

13.0 Waste Management

Background

TTTU on tank cleaning and other similar projects is normally the lead contractor and as such is

responsible for the management (temporary storage, waste transfer and disposal) of generated

wastes and other residual material.

Historically, we utilized local disposal facilities for waste disposal. However, oftentimes this

proved to be a challenge based on site limitations to receiving waste generated from our tank

cleaning activities. In this regard, in 2011 we investigated the BAT (Best Available Technology)

for the cost effective treatment and disposal of sludge and tank bottoms recovered from cleaning

operations and acquired three thermal units:

One Direct Fired Thermal Desorption Unit (TDU) and

Two Infrared Thermal Evaporation units; this system has a patented system for the

recovery of oil.

Our operation is governed by a CEC granted by the EMA. The units are fully commissioned and

have been operational for 1-year.

Each waste stream generated must be analytically profiled prior to acceptance to confirm the

anticipated disposal method and ensure that the disposal criteria are met. If elevated heavy metal

concentrations are found in the waste stream an alternative method must be determined (for e.g.

for solids, stabilization in a cement matrix followed by land-filling). Baseline analytical testing

(full suite of parameters) will be performed on each waste stream. During the project lifetime,

once the waste streams do not change, random routine analytical testing (selected parameters

only) will be conducted for confirmatory purposes.

Once the waste has been successfully remediated and / or treated (as determined by analytical

testing) an “End of Life” Certificate will be issued for your waste management records. This

Certificate will document such information as:

Waste Generator

Waste Source

Date Received

Date Completed

Volume and Type of Waste Received

Direct Fired Thermal Desorption Unit (DTDU)

The DTDU’s primary soil treatment system consists of three component sub-systems which are:

the soil feed system, dryer/Soil Cleaning Unit (rotary drum), and the pugmill which is the treated

material cooling/re-moisturization/discharge system. System is illustrated below.

14.0 Oil Spill Response

The PRIMARY tools used to respond to oil spills are mechanical containment, recovery, and

cleanup equipment. Such equipment includes a variety of booms, barriers, and skimmers, as

well as natural and synthetic sorbent materials.

A key to effectively combating spilled oil is careful selection and proper use of the equipment

and materials most suited to the type of oil and the conditions at the spill site. Most spill response

equipment and materials are greatly affected by such factors as conditions at sea, water currents,

and wind. Damage to spill-contaminated shorelines and dangers to other threatened areas can be

reduced by timely and proper use of containment and recovery equipment.
