Answering God’s Call Our three readings tell all tell about God’s calling and people responding. In our first reading Isaiah is called to be God’s servant. He has been known by God since he was in his mother’s womb. God had a plan for his life and Isaiah responded, calling God’s chosen people back to the Lord.

In the first line of our second reading, Paul declares that he was called by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. He responded and became an evangelizer to the Gentiles, spreading the Good News of Jesus far and wide.

John the Baptist was called to prepare the way for the Messiah. When he sees Jesus approaching he identifies Jesus as the Lamb of God. John was also called for his special ministry before he was born!

Our responsorial psalm response today should be our response to God’s calling to us: “Here I am Lord; I have come to do your will!” How do we figure out what God is calling us to do? Asking God in prayer is a good place to start as long as we listen to God’s answer. Another way is to look at our gifts and talents. How would God want me to use them to proclaim God’s kingdom? What brings me inner peace and joy? God wants us to be truly happy so God gives us special graces and blessings in the gifts we are to share. When we use our God‐given talents we are responding to God’s call. We bring the Good News of Jesus our Savior through our actions.

Being the person God created us to be is the greatest way to respond to God’s call. God didn’t promise the people we read about today that following God’s will would be easy. God doesn’t promise us an easy life either. God does promise eternal life to those who do and live God’s will. I’m putting my trust in God. What about you? Will you respond “Here I am Lord; I have come to do your will”?

Respondiendo al llamado de Dios Nuestras tres lecturas cuentan todo sobre el llamado de Dios y la gente que responde. En nuestra primera lectura, Isaías está llamado a ser el siervo de Dios. Dios lo conoce desde que estaba en el vientre de su madre. Dios tenía un plan para su vida e Isaías respondió, llamando a las personas elegidas de Dios al Señor.

En la primera línea de nuestra segunda lectura, Pablo declara que fue llamado por Dios para ser un apóstol de Cristo Jesús. Él respondió y se convirtió en un evangelizador de los gentiles, difundiendo las Buenas Nuevas de Jesús por todas partes.

Juan el Bautista fue llamado a preparar el camino para el Mesías. Cuando ve acercarse a Jesús, lo identifica como el Cordero de Dios. ¡John también fue llamado para su ministerio especial antes de nacer!

Pedirle a Dios en oración es un buen lugar para comenzar siempre que escuchemos la respuesta de Dios. Otra forma es mirar nuestros dones y talentos. ¿Cómo querría Dios que los use para proclamar el reino de Dios? ¿Qué me trae paz interior y alegría? Dios quiere que seamos verdaderamente felices, así que Dios nos da gracias especiales y bendiciones en los dones que debemos compartir. Cuando usamos nuestros talentos dados por Dios, estamos respondiendo al llamado de Dios. Traemos las Buenas Nuevas de Jesús nuestro Salvador a través de nuestras acciones.

Ser la persona que Dios nos creó para ser es la mejor manera de responder al llamado de Dios. Dios no prometió a las personas sobre las que leemos hoy que seguir la voluntad de Dios sería fácil. “Babysitting Safe and Secure” By Little Company of Mary Hospital

Little Company of Mary Hospital will be offering a Babysitting class for children ages 11 to 14 to learn safe babysitting skills. The class is taught by wellness nurse educators. The class is on Monday, January 20, 2020 and again on Monday, February 17, 2020. The class is from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm and will be held at the Evergreen Park Fire Station, 9000 South Kedzie in Evergreen Park. Registration is required. To register, please call 708.423.5774.
