MARDI GRAS CLASSROOM BASKET THEMES Suggestions are shown for each theme, but these are only suggestions! Feel free to be creative!

Pre-K: Pet Basket (cat/dog toys, treats, gift cards to pet stores)

Kindergarten: Coffee, Tea & Chocolate (Specialty coffees, mugs, biscotti, teas, coffee grinder, basket

themed towels, coffee scoop / container, hot tea travel cup, hot tea accessories, hot cocoa, specialty hot cocoa

packets, gourmet chocolates, coffee flavors)

First Grade: Gift Certificate (Don't forget about TRIP when you buy any denomination of gift card for

movies, restaurants, gas, groceries, you name it!)

Second Grade: Arts & Crafts (These can be crafts for any age! Young kids crafts, scrapbooking supplies,

sewing basket supplies, yarn, books, let your imagination be creative...if you're not so creative, visit Michaels or

JoAnns...you can't go wrong)

Third Grade (Mrs. Taelman): Kitchen items (Kitchen gadgets and supplies are endless...towels, soaps,

recipe cards, cook books, apron, recipe box, sponges, cutting boards, fancy knives and fun utensils, spoon rests,

cookie supplies, baking...if it fits in the kitchen it can fit in our basket)

Third Grade (Mrs. Fitzpatrick): Family Night (What does your family like to do on family night? This can

include board games, card games, puzzles, watch movies, red box gift certificate, don't forget to think about

favorite family night snacks like popcorn, brownie mix, sundae supplies)

Fourth Grade: Girl Basket (This basket can include anything that would be fun for girls K-6....games, room

decor, dolls, itune cards, books, movie passes, journals, fun pens and pencils)

Fifth Grade (Both Mrs. Brzezinski and Mrs. James): These classes will battle the rival schools MSU and U

of M. Instead of assigning one to each room, the kids are allowed to pick something to represent their favorite

team, Michigan or Michigan State. The baskets will be separated at Mardi Gras by their school. These items

can include any MSU or U of M college apparel, clothing, or logo supported item OR game tickets :-)

Sixth Grade: Boy Basket (This basket can include anything appropriate for boys in K-6th grade. Items

include car toys, legos, books, movies, nerf stuff, movie pass, itunes, building items)

Please use the Christmas sale opportunity to pick up your child's Mardi Gras classroom need. Depending on the

amount of items donated, we may make multiple smaller themed baskets instead of one great big basket. This

helps separate age appropriate donations as well as offers more opportunities for families to win at Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras 2013 Saturday – February 2, 2013

Sponsored by PRIDE

The annual Mardi Gras event is set. We had a wonderful turn out last year and we hope to have another

memorable evening February 2nd

. For those who have never attended a Mardi Gras, there are games, good

food, basket raffles and a silent auction. The kids always have a great time and it is the perfect social event for

parents. Not to mention, many families end up going home with something special. In order to make this

year’s Mardi Gras as fantastic as last years…..

been. Do you have season tickets to a sports event and you can’t make the game? Would you consider

donating those tickets to PRIDE for the Mardi Gras auction? Do you or someone you know own a business and

be willing to donate a tax deductible item or cash to help make Mardi Gras 2013 a success? Any consideration

would be appreciated! Examples of donations needs are gift certificates from local businesses, sporting event

tickets, electronic items, product goodie baskets, vacation rentals, etc. Everyone who donates will receive

recognition during the event and all donations are tax deductible!!

Basket donations are still needed. Please check the PRIDE website (www.jcsstjohn.org) for your child’s class

assignment. Classroom basket items are due Monday January 28th

classroom. If you see other basket themes that you would like to donate to, please feel free!
