Dec. Daily Program Stats:

Meet Doug - New Life Addiction Treatment Client

Doug says, “Without knowing the program title,

I was looking for HOPE and A NEW LIFE!

Thank you - My family is very, very grateful and

now they want to donate their time to the Mission.”

What was your family like? I was raised by my great aunt. My mom and dad were separated.

Who introduced you to drugs and what happened after you began using? My friends at school introduced me to drugs when I was 16 years old. My addiction progressed very quickly. From day one I was hooked. I did marijuana and progressed to heavier and heavier drugs. I lived all around the country attempting to escape myself.

How did you hear about the Mission? I was homeless in central Stockton. I was hopeless and on my way to the grave. An addict that I was using drugs with was fumbling with a crumpled- up business card to the Mission. God told me to come here. I was anxious the first day I came in, but I was ready to quit using drugs.

What are you learning and accomplishing while in the New Life Program? I am learning that God loves me no matter what and that the more I focus on God, the less pain and more acceptance I have. The Genesis Class has made things that weren’t so obvious, obvious so I know what to look at in me. I have been able to refocus and get my brain working again. I am creating a solid plan for self-employment in sales and painting.

What are you most thankful for? I am most thankful for an opportunity to be alone with God, that I’ve learned to give back, and that I have a counselor I can talk to. There is hope!

Thank you for your continued gifts that will help others like Doug!

ll things considered, God and His people (You) are good!

As you can see in the chart above, because of the concern and generosity of 1,842 donors GCRM ended 2012 in the black, with $47,000 left over to begin 2013. Praise the Lord! Every donor wonders, “What did all that money accomplish?” Well, here are some interesting numbers, and there are more if you are interested:

* EACH UNIT OF SERVICE INCLUDES MEALS, LODGING AND APPROPRIATE PROGRAMMING.

The 12% increase in services was accomplished with the same number of 2011 staff, therein lays the need to return to pre-recession staffing levels. Also, we have additional bed /program space for our treatment programs that could be utilized with additional staff; and the need is there. We have waiting lists in every program area. Our dedicated staff and I look forward to providing the services you want in 2013. We will continue to keep the homeless alive and provide programming that will change lives in the name of Jesus our Savior and Lord. Please feel free to call me at (209) 320-2314 if you would like to discuss this article, take a tour of the campus, or talk about how you can help in 2013. Thanks again!
