U623 to Lakeside Campus. Get down at the bus stop at PJS 7,Jalan 7/8 and take a 5 mins walk to the campus pedestrian gate.*

RAPIDKL U623 BUSThis bus runs from the Kelana Jaya LRT Station to Sunway area via the LDP. You should alight at the bus stop at Jalan PJS 7/8, PJS7 and take a 5-min walk to the campus pedestrian gate. To return to Kelana Jaya, the bus will run pass Subang Jaya before heading back to Kelana Jaya LRT station via Federal Highway. (Please refer to the bus route covering the RapidKL U623)

The list below provides information about all the events that are taking place throughout your Orientation with us.

TAYLOR’S UNIVERSITY ORIENTATIONMonday, 19 Jan at 0830Taylor’s Orientation Week is the most effective first step towards transitioning students into University campus life with enriching experiences. New students are formally welcome by the Taylor’s University Vice-Chancellor and President, Deans and Vice-President of the Student Experience Department. Under the Student Experience Department, students can look forward to learning more about the Student Central, Bursary and Financial Aid, Career Services Centre, Global Mobility Office, Counseling and Psychological Services Centre, Health Services Centre, Student Development Hub, Sports and Recreations Centre, International Student Services and International Office. In addition, students are able to acquire critical information on the services provided by Library, ICT, University Gym, Student Success Centre (SSC) and SHINE Awards Centre (SAC). The e-Learning Academy will introduce the Blended Learning with TIMES which is important for students to know about the online platform available in assisting, and enhancing their learning experiences. Senior students and alumni are invited to share their campus experiences and how to maximize their time in the university, balancing between academic achievement, personal development and leadership enhancement.

ORIENTATION HELPDESKOur staff members are here to answer any enquiries relating to your Orientation. Just approach the staff or Student Ambassadors at Counter 1 or 2 at Student Central for assistance!

STUDENT IDMonday, 19 Jan at 1200All students are required to have their digital photo taken for Student ID printing. You can take your digital photo at Student Central by presenting your original payment receipt (full-payment for the 1st Semester). Your Student ID will be ready for collection after 24 hours on weekdays.

TYPHOID INOCULATIONMonday, 19 Jan at 0900It is compulsory for all students under the Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Bachelor of Science in Culinology to take the Typhoid Inoculation. Students can receive the Typhoid injection at Kumpulan Medic Clinic located at Syopz, The Boardwalk, Level 1.

UNIFORM COLLECTIONMonday, 19 Jan at 1430This is applicable to students under the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts programme. Uniform measurement and collection is at Taylor’s Merchandize Shop located at the Syopz, The Boardwalk. Level 1. Students have to present the receipt showing their uniform purchase during collection from Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm only.

PERSONAL SAFETY AWARENESS AND ACTION WORKSHOPMonday, 19 Jan at 1400All students are advised to attend this workshop where they will learn how to avoid being a victim of crime and Self-defense. During this workshop, different technics and tips will be demonstrated on how to defend oneself. This workshop is also compulsory for all in order for students to collect their Student ID using Taylor’s Freshman Card provided.

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, SAFETY & SECURITYMonday, 19 Jan at 1630This induction session aims to help students to understand the safety measures, security systems and services that are available in the univer-sity to ensure a safe learning environment.

CAMPUS HUNTTuesday, 20 Jan at 1400The adrenalin pumping self-navigated Campus Hunt is organized by Taylor’s University Orientation Leaders to help new students be familiarized with the key location and support services of various student-oriented departments. Every station is in-fused with fun and exciting games and students are required to work in a group to solve different round of challenges which promotes integration, team work and critical thinking. Please come attired in your sport shoes/flats and pants.

ACADEMIC BRIEFINGTuesday, 20 Jan at 0900Wednesday, 21 Jan at 0900Students under the respective programme will be briefed on the followings: 1) Academic Calendar2) Timetable3) Programme Structure4) Modules registration, add/drop and withdrawal procedures5) Progression rules and termination and other academic related matters. Take this opportunity to get to know your Faculty Members too!

STUDENT SUCCESS AND THE FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCEThursday, 22 Jan 0930All FIRST YEAR students are advised to attend this workshop as we will cover issues like adjusting to university life; discuss why some students drop out and how to prevent it happening to you; complete a “Power Profile” on how ready am I for tertiary studies; cover Survival Skills and discuss surprises about university Life. Discussions will be facilitated by support staff from SSC, CPSC, school FYE Committees and senior students. CLUBS AND SOCIETIES DAY Friday, 23 Jan at 1100Clubs and Societies Day is an avenue for new students to join any Clubs and Societies of their choice ranging from community centric, business and entrepreneurship, performing arts, spiritual connectivity, cultural, public speaking, special interests, sports and international clubs and societies. There are more than 50 over clubs and societies participating in Clubs and Societies Recruitment Drive to engage with new students through showcase of clubs, activities and performances. You can even form your new Club if you are unable to find one that matches your interest.

ORIENTATION PARTYFriday, 23 Jan at 1600The Orientation Party is a themed party organized by the Taylor’s University Orientation Leaders to welcome and celebrate new students as they enter into University life. Exhilarating games are in placed to encourage students to get to know one another, integrate and have fun with exciting prizes up for grab. There are various performances showcased by Clubs and Societies and many other in-house talents adding flavor to the event. Sumptuous refreshments are provided!

1. STUDENT IDIt is very important to have your Student ID with you and displayed at all times when you are on campus. Please collect your Student ID after 24 hours upon taking your digital photo.

2. PEDESTRIAN ACCESS CARDIf you are staying in PJS 7 area or taking the RapidKL Bus U623 to Lakeside Campus, you may apply for a pedestrian access card to gain access to the campus via the pedestrian gate. To apply for one, please email ([email protected]) to the Student Advisor @ Student Central for advice.

3. PARKING SYSTEM IN LAKESIDEFree parking bays are available at Zone H and Zone I in Lakeside Campus. Parking fee of RM3 per entry is applicable to Zone J and basement parking at the Boardwalk. The parking facility is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please look for alternative sites if all the parking bays are taken up.

4. COMMUTING TO LAKESIDE CAMPUSStudents may commute to Taylor’s Lakeside campus using public transportation such as KTM Kommuter (Sentul – Port Klang Line), LRT (Kelana Jaya Line), Rapid KL U623 bus (from Kelana Jaya) or using the Taylor’s shuttle buses.

5. DRESS CODE POLICY Students must dress neatly with clean attire at all times. Students are advised to be mindful of the cultural sensitivities of others and the academic environment.

6. SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT Smoking is not permitted on Taylor’s University grounds which are clearly separated from the Commercial Block (The Boardwalk) by the demarcation stickers. Students found smoking on the University grounds will face the below consequences:

First-time offenders will be given a verbal warning and their details will be recorded in a database by Student Central.

For a second offence, the student will be fined RM50 and receive a warning letter from the University.

If a third offence is committed, the student will be fined RM100 and be subjected to disciplinary action with possible suspension.

Taylor’s University Student Council (TUSC) is a strategic platform for students to acquire in-depth leadership experience.

TUSC serves as the chief representative body for students in the institution, with representation from all the schools. They serve as key intermediary between the University and students on non-academic welfare issues and resolution, spearhead enriching initiatives to integrate students across all Schools and represent Taylor’s University for inter-varsities collaborations, networking avenues and efforts of the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
