Manager’s MessageI hope all of you have enjoyed a wonder-
ful Holiday Season! Once again, your Clubhas been the scene of momentous MemberFamily functions (check out the many picturesin this Rumbler edition). Entering this time ofyear provides time for reflection on 2016 aswell as hopes and wishes for 2017! On thefuture, your Club has never looked brighterand the management and staff here are eagerto provide you with the high quality standardsand service you deserve. Our events, whether sport or social, will be bigger andbetter than ever and we will have somethingfor everyone!
2016 saw a number of heralded initiativesand activities. From the golf side; Richland’swell-acclaimed Commemorative and Tee Partygolf traditions were made even better, a juniorgolf program increased in size by leaps andbounds, Tennessee’s finest caddie programwas introduced and the golf course added toits outstanding conditions with renovatedbunkers, a re-vitalized turf/tree improvementprogram and a magnificent new practiceputting green with accompanied landscapeand masonry walls. Tennis also showedgrowth and champion level play from thejuniors, NALTA and USTA local, regional andnational champs, a dynamite professionalexhibition and a fun music/band event featur-ing the world champion U.S. Bryan brothers’duo along with participating Members andNashville’s finest songwriters. The indoorfacility was improved with a new HVAC andLED lighting system. Our pool, fitness andfood and beverage operations all hadRichland record breaking Member and guestparticipation rates
2017 will see another “Richland Innovation”.We work and play - live, really - in a world oftechnology advancements that we all enjoy tosome, or the fullest, extent. Over the past 2-3years the Club has sought and embracedthese for your benefit. But it is time to takeyour service enhancements to the next leveland the Board of Directors has urged andagreed with management’s recommendationto update all facets of your Club’s systems andtechnology. Many of these upgrades willfurther enhance and integrate all aspects ofyour Club life to include; operations, and yourClub account, communications, reservations/planning/ordering of services and social me-dia. They will all be seamless in transitionand complement future facility improve-
ments. Of course, they will meet the strictestrules of confidentiality. This process will takethe better part of 6 monthsto fully integrate. Do notworry, we will always behere in person and on thephone to deliver theRichland Service youdeserve.
The most noteworthyaccomplishment for 2016was the Board recom-mended and Memberapproved $20M phasedrenovation that will com-mence in mid-2017. It ranks as not only thelargest project undertaken here at Richland butone of the most wide-reaching club projectsthroughout the Southeast and U.S. It origi-nated and evolved conceptually from you, theMembers. It engaged the finest club industryarchitects, interior designers, engineers, con-tractors, bankers and specialist advisors. Thework will be phased for maximum flexibility, efficiency of Club resources and to minimizedisruption to your Club enjoyment. It willallow the Club to provide for you the“Richland CC for the Future”. You have heardme say this several times before – ladies andgents, we have a very, very fine Clubhere that is now fully poised for higherlevels of standing and greatness. Anydecision this momentous requires diligenceand results in debate. Your Board of Directorsinsured you had a lot of both. It was meaningfuland positive. I also believe the results confirm yourClub’s future.
With that – one final thought –overwhelmingly, you have been strong sup-porters and advocates for new/prospectiveMember sponsorship and growth. Our processfor sustained Member growth does not rely on(nor does Richland’s 115 year old standing andtradition) the latest marketing gimmicks, pric-ing incentives or advertisements. It reliessimply on you! The Club is marching solidlyand forthrightly towards a full complement ofMembers. Ladies and Gents – it is onlythrough your approving and positive com-mitment that delivers more fine Membersto Richland Country Club.
